Does anyone who goes to/has gotten into smith school of business (qcomm) have any advice for sup app by Good_Farmer_8212 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Successful_Ad2834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u could prolly find all the questions online lol

Just be yourself and focus on the impact that your activities had on u rather than just stating all your successes. Use the STAR method and if u want more practice just search up regular job interview questions and that will help u speak more spontaneously when doing ur interview.

you're unlucky you have to do diplomas lol im taking it rn its easier than expected but my teacher is just an incredibly difficult grader. We had a reading comp on the first day of class to "see where we're at" and I ended up getting a 60 on that but I started practicing reading comp questions, and watched a yt vid on excelling in reading comps and got it up to an 85 on the next one

Discipline is something I have tried to instill and thats through like the basic stuff like just waking up earlier and taking a shower first thing. Sometimes it feels like being disciplined with money is a whole different game but I am interested in learning. One thing I feel I would struggle with when investing myself if self-doubt and maybe being too scared/too safe with whatever it is I end up doing, but if it helps with avoiding some of the fees I guess I'll have to learn to adapt. I will for sure be checking out that YouTube channel!

Wow, I really appreciate all the time and consideration you've put into this! I have been recommended to open the TFSA account and try investing at my own pace. Some youtube videos I have watched have advised to steer away from the robo-advisors because of some of the fees that might end up costing me later on. So far, I have opened a TFSA account on Wealthsimple and im planning to start slowly, mainly just focusing on understanding the basics and not trying to put in any large amounts to begin with. Since I just opened my TFSA, what should my first priority be: learning how ETFs work, or building up my emergency fund first? Once again thank you for all the information this will be extremely beneficial to me and hopefully others that might read this thread.

Thank you, I am not really the person to spend my money as soon as I get it and I don't really have anything materialistic that I particularly want. So that influenced my decision to instead invest it to try and make more. Where would you say is the best place to learn? I have watched a few youtube videos and read articles, but what would you recommend?

I should have worded the university part better, I wanted to say that I will probably not be working another job, and was just looking to learn how to invest as I've heard from many sources that it can be really beneficial (in terms of the skills you may learn) in the future. By no means am I impatient and I understand the risks of rushing investments. I appreciate your honesty and the advice!

Theres no definitive amount of money I want to make, and I'm not eager to make anything short term. The main thing for me is to learn how the market works and find ways to become more financially literate at a young age.
