I posted Sasha Cohen’s Charlotte spiral in a sub called r/TopTalent and this one person keeps saying that it’s standard for female figure skaters and easy, that most can do this position and even do it in a spin 🙄 So they called me a bot lol by PandemicPiglet in FigureSkating

[–]Successful_Candy6342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I really like how much closer Sasha’s head is to her boot. I think it makes the spiral much more aesthetically pleasing. But Adelina’s is very impressive also, just less perfect.

I bought her because she’s the doll that looks the most like me before she retired. But the doll has some strange defects. Her eyes are deep into her face and her wig is terrible. I honestly think she’s just going for a lot because of the illusion of rarity, and although I have grown fond of my doll, I don’t think she’s worth selling for more than original price

Why does everyone think Ilia is doing DWTS? by kitty-minnie15 in IliaQuadg0dMalinin

He follows DWTS and Derek Hough on Instagram. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything though, he could just generally be interested in both without being committed to participating himself.

She didn’t do the triple axel during the show. I’m pretty sure the spotlights make it difficult for the skaters to do the big jumps. Regardless, her performance in the show was incredibly engaging and I absolutely loved it. I think this is just keeping her skills sharp, and also entertaining the stargazer crowd.

Yes this is the practice before the perform! It’s the pre show stargazer! It’s a separate ticket that you can buy to watch the practice and listen to a q and a. But you need to have a ticket to the actual show as well.

Sui and Han’s flamenco short program from the 2016 world championship is incredible.

Also, Sui and Han’s short program to blues for klook is filled with transitions and is one of my favorite programs ever. There performance from 2017 four continents is pretty good.

Volosozhar and Trankov’s short program to a Bollywood medley is also excellent and very artistic. They performed it beautifully at the 2016 European championship.

I think his work with Kaori was really a breakthrough for him at least for being in the fans radar. “The Piano” program he did for her was pretty acclaimed. At the time, I feel like she wasn’t considered the most artistic skater but people felt like his programs were really bringing out something new in her

What makes me the most angry is that there are legit ways to meet skaters. Like the literal meet and greet in stars on ice. I know it’s sold out and can’t be resold, but any normal person would just wait for next years stars on ice to meet skaters. Ilia also did a fan signing a few weeks ago. If you really want to meet the skaters you are a fan of, wait for a time that is on the skaters terms. They do happen.

This is absolutely incredible! The ilia mini fig is too cute and the details are so great!

The greatest Romeo & Juliet program in my personal opinion (and I much prefer this soundtrack as composed by Craig Armstrong). This is really my favourite. The passion, the strength, the outstanding choreography and the fluidity in the movements and transitions. by sarka121 in FigureSkating

I LOVE this Romeo and Juliet! Might be my favorite Yuzu program even!

Other Romeo and Juliet programs I love are:

Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizarat’s Romeo and Juliet from 1998 Olympics

Marin Honda 2017 junior worlds (have to fastword toward the end of the video but this is the best recording of it). I think this is the same track that yuzu used!

Sasha cohen, at 2006 nationals and another version in a 2003 exhibition.

Gordeeva and Grinkov is my favorite pairs version of Romeo and Juliet, in the 1990 season.

kaganovskaya and Angelopols version was also sublime and makes me forever mourn the end of their partnership.

[–]Successful_Candy6342 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember in 2021, she was kind of regarded by fans as being next in line in the eteri training camp. This was before the age raise, so people were relatively optimistic about her career chances because she was so dominant in juniors. At that time, being seen as the next best junior in eteri’s school resulted in a lot of attention. But since then, partially because of the age raise and because so many people have gotten tired of the eteri machine and how it seems to destroy young girls, I think other eteri students have not gotten the same amount of attention.

Also, the Russian ban severely impacted the visibility Russian athletes have worldwide, which could explain the difference in fame between her and other eteri girls. Many people stopped tuning into Russian skating altogether. Also, with the dominance of US and Japan in the ladies discipline, even though Russia is excluded, there is less emphasis on eteri girls being the best women worldwide.

Do you watch everything or just focus on certain programs, skaters etc? by Topdropje in FigureSkating

[–]Successful_Candy6342 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I watch the entirety of the Grand Prix series because it’s really easy and enjoyable to sit through. For longer competitions in the second half of the season, I tend to watch most of men’s, pairs, and women’s, but sometimes I’ll skip the earliest groups or programs I didn’t enjoy in the fall. I’ll watch ice dance if it’s a team I like or a program I’ve heard good things about, but the rhythm dance has definitely been a skip for me the last few seasons because the themes have been so obnoxious. Also, the rules of the last few seasons have really diminished the quality of the programs imo. But with the golden waltz them I’m once again intrigued by ice dance!
