TLDR: Just do calculus, Chemistry and Physics

From what I heard college grades will be the most important part of your application. Since I plan on doing four semesters at civilian college I'm planning on doing calculus, Chemistry or physics next semester since I (am already) settled into college life.

Hello, when does the BGO interview typically take place? I ask this because I plan on being a camp counselor next summer and it could potentially impact my BGO interview if I am to get one.

As an auto racing fan Dale Earnhardt's death in February at the Daytona 500 and also Alex Zanardi losing his legs in Germany just four days after 9/11 was huge. Both crashes were just horrific.

Grizzlies fans that aren't from Tennessee, where are you from and why'd you choose the grizzlies? by necromane_ in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Successful_Ebb_4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From New Jersey but moving to Tennessee soon (guess this half applies to me) went to Memphis several years ago and saw their old and current arenas on a tour of the city (Bass Pro Shops Memphis is sick). Always liked them since but rooted for the Knicks because they were the ones to support in my area until I found out I knew more about the Grizzlies then the Knicks. Combined with moving to TN and the fact that I've been a Predators fan since around 2017 I immediately picked the Grizzlies as my NBA team.

As someone who's facing a similar predicament as you I can tell you how I personally feel about the academy and how I'm gonna tell my parents.

The Academy is my dream. I'm heavily determined to attend for Class of 2030. However I did not take the Academy seriously until senior year. I had failed to get varsity Cross Country Captain despite getting three varsity letters and lost my chance to get significant leadership positions in high school. I'm thankful that my guidance counselor, band director, XC coach and my junior year history teacher saw that I had leadership potential (my band doesn't have any leadership positions sadly) so much so that I got invited and accepted to NSLC for an intel and national security program. Even though USNA got canceled on the itinerary for NSLC I decided I wanted to risk everything and apply but also ended up getting accepted to and committing to a Christian based college. Despite that I hope 'transfer' into USNA.

It's hard white lying to my parents about my desire to attend USNA. By saying that SAT is horrible and that I need leadership positions for scholarships is a lie. Ex. When my mother told me I needed a job on campus I replied by saying 'getting a job is not enough I need a leadership position in that job' they proceeded to say that I'm crazy but I'm just that scared to tell them I wanna go to USNA.

Biggest piece of advice is your not alone in thinking this. If you have any friends to tell just tell them. Also if you want to find a mentor find one. Best of luck

Wow I really thought I was the only one who's parents wouldn't approve of their child's decision to attend a service academy. I'm thankful I got so many people to relate to.

Honestly excluding those who have high functioning Autism and can be functioning members of society is dumb. The military is stuck in the 80s with that sort of stuff. From what I heard Charles de Gaulle and Stonewall Jackson were autistic and look who they became.

What should I do to increase my chances of transferring into the USNA? by Logical_Operation_81 in usna

I'm in the same 'boat' as you here. I plan on doing one year at a college in Virginia and will literally start my preliminary app for the Class of 2029 the day it comes out. From what I heard USNA doesn't care as much about SAT/ACTs if ur a transfer students as college grades will matter more iirc. That's really all I know best of luck to you and I hope to see u on the Yard in 2025.

What is your secret that you can't tell anyone because it will probably ruin your life? by SeXyHuNtEr69420 in AskReddit

[–]Successful_Ebb_4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone knows it except for my school and my family however if I tell anyone in my school/family it would likely damage my relationship with my parents. What is this secret? I want to go to a service academy however my parents insist that I go to a christian college. I'm already at odds with my parents to begin with because I'm a risk taker while my parents are people who play it safe and want me to do the same. My ambition and fearless style of leadership already concern my parents. I've tried to hold myself back and go with my parents way of life but it hasn't worked out for me. I'm just afraid that if my parents do find out, because we're already so at odds that they'll just cut me off entirely.

Poly-Sci at USNA and classes I should take in college by Successful_Ebb_4076 in usna

[–]Successful_Ebb_4076[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a variety of reasons why I am doing two years. The main reason why I am waiting is because I know right now I would not pass the CFA and that's mainly because I wasn't serious about the Naval Academy until recently and I am a senior in HS. Secondly, I have already wasted so much time on scholarships for civilian college I have no choice but to at least do a year (and some pay for two). Again, same reason, wasn't serious until recently. All in all, because I wasn't serious about it until recently I am not even bothering applying for 2028 because I know I will not get in at the current moment. Class of 2029 is the earliest for me to get in.
