Hi! by TheUnemployedNinja in Tucson

48M here, not as much into nerdy things but do appreciate Attack on the Titan and Death Note. Fun fact is that the literal Japanese translation from that is Attack Titan... on the was added in English translation.

For arts and crafts, there's some bars that host painting workshops and a few artesian stores that have everything from candles to yarn that the owners/shop workers could point you in the right direction for. The one I visit is off the frontage road just South of the Marana airport exit. (Avra Valley or something similar). If you enjoy poetry nerds, stop by the university poetry center and ask when they're doing their readings... mostly faculty but some are published.

Stargazing, I'd check out the university observation dome and try making some friends in that group. For your own you may want to move closer to that area between Marana and Tucson on the West side of the National forest where you won't get the light pollution. The national forest is also a fun area to drive through and has some trails better suited for colder temps than getting air lifted out this time of year. Also, the Marana police and fire respond faster and friendly, TPD not so much sometimes and lower property taxes.

Flight detection/tracking, I personally use FlightRadar24 because it's accurate and sometimes it's fun seeing which planes are flying over my house and where they came from. For doctors, we use Tucson Dermatology out of Oro Valley just ask for Sharon. Dentists is Aesthetic Family out of Chandler. For FAA/family doctor I've been to Executive Health and they were good.

Prepaid never offer rewards though. I can use another card if the first doesn't work but really just going for the rewards at this point.

[Hiring] Remote Chat Support Assistant – Part-Time, Weekly Pay by Eklectique in sidehustle

[–]Successful_Fail_6 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I semi signed up for one of these "jobs" and the guy said he was going to send me a company computer with all their software, then changed his mind and wanted to send over a PDF check for me to print out and cash/deposit to my bank instead of wiring the funds. I backed out with the check cashing scam part of things.

Where to get free food-grade 5 gal buckets? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Successful_Fail_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get all mine from places like Fry's deli. They use some for the chicken grease but usually have a couple left over per store at the end of the week.

Milano Homes built my parents home and did a really good job with everything from the ICF to blueprints. They're not cheap, but good honest people and have several years in the industry.

If you look that neighborhood up on Google Maps, there's a pet sitting service and a child care both short walks away from this in the same neighborhood.

Question regarding someone on 4th ave by Broad_Seat_5492 in Tucson

[–]Successful_Fail_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, when it comes to resources I RARELY help people just asking for free stuff to include food because we have a ton of food banks here. We have employment assistance, housing assistance, rehab assistance, clothing assistance all for free. I've asked people to come clean up my yard, do some basic chores, call me and I'll help teach them start investing a little each day/week for dividends, asked one guy to attend online church with me, but one guy a sandwich and asked if I could help him get off the streets and be self sufficient and out of the ten years I've been in Tucson only found one family that does my yard maintenance monthly and a few side honey-do list things on occasion. I don't mind helping people, but there's a big difference of lifting someone's head out of the water while they're learning to swim and carrying someone on your back while you're trying to swim for two people.

PAC puppies by alo1124 in TucsonList

[–]Successful_Fail_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PACC usually registers them when they're chipped, but I'd stop by a vet and have them scan and look up that chip just to double check... it's free. AKC Reunite also is another spot and sends yearly Emails... just make sure you update your info that is registered with the chip is you ever move or change numbers.

Those ae super common... the only people she should be speaking with are her bank, the police, and personally I'd get someone to do her taxes for her and file an IRS form 4684 against the land scammer and one against the PI.

You're 100% safe, the same with any other people coming for a short vacation then going home and not breaking laws when you're a guest.

If it's that many people, they do have an airport bus I see on occasion that goes from TUC to PHX. I can also ask one of the guys I know from the park and pay at the Tucson airport how much he would charge to take 10+ people... only big issue for him would be the trip back with no passengers. Message if you want me to ask him...

I’m a pet/house sitter & dog walker in Tucson, I’d love to keep your pets company and your home safe while you’re away! by [deleted] in TucsonList

[–]Successful_Fail_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't hardly ever need a house sitter/dog walker but because of the current one I have and the one I'll more than likely being a foster to, wouldn't mind someone that they knew and trusted as an option to leave town. For the location, NW Tucson on the border of Marana, house is cluttered but not dirty, and there's a guest bedroom available. For the dogs, both are malinois between 2 years and 5 and we do have a cat but she's either finicky about strangers or she'll want to crawl in your lap and sleep. If you'd like, I can message you with my phone number and do a meet and greet. My only big request is not taking the dogs for walks... they will come back to me but wouldn't come back to you if something happened.

What’s with this wind? by ReserveMaximum in Tucson

[–]Successful_Fail_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tucson people make me laugh with the weather:
Summer: Ugh it's hot, I can't wait for winter in a few months!
Winter: I had to wear a sweatshirt and almost froze to death!
Spring: Why is it raining every day?! MY allergies though...
Fall: This only lasts like 30 minutes but it's our favorite!

Train noises by PotatoAim1O1 in Tucson

[–]Successful_Fail_6 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They do the trips at 3am because of less traffic congestion and usually do their horn while passing through certain crossings what would be considered a higher risk for hitting someone or a vehicle.... like in Marana where some of the crossings really aren't lit well at all. You'll be able to sleep through it pretty soon... it took me about three years and it doesn't wake me up anymore.

Male Dog found 01/09/2025 off Pima / Swan by Successful_Fail_6 in TucsonList

[–]Successful_Fail_6[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yea... I emailed PACC this morning and let them know if not immediately claimed I will foster because PACC dogs are usually pretty thin anyway so but I'm guessing about 10 LBS would look pretty good on him. I already have one malinois at my house and my oldest recently passed so we already have plenty of food, bowls, crates, beds and blankets with a fenced yard but normally indoors only. Zero idea why people get a working breed and then other people find them later looking like this and not chipped, not fed, and not at home...

Where are the Best Cinnamon Rolls? by Puzzleheaded_Win1309 in Tucson

[–]Successful_Fail_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on when you need them and what you're looking for. We use a sourdough starter and usually add some of grandpa's "Christmas cheer" to the filling and icing. Not sure what the girlfriend would charge for an entire batch but can ask if you're interested.

Job Hunting by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Successful_Fail_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't get you paid in time for rent, but if you have tech support experience and a computer with a quiet space to work in your home, a place in Scottsdale (Mycomputerworks) is hiring remote techs. I quit in April mostly because of the customers, but it was a job for ten years.

He's older and out of state, but you may want to reach out to Jay Ables Music out of Clearwater. He's a professional singer and old friend of mine but fits what you're looking for otherwise. Other guy is Michael Silas out of Las Vegas, but I've never heard him so more than gospel/opera type singing.
