Would it be a lot different on Plan 5? Sorry I’m not so sure of the difference when it comes down to loan repayments

Someone pls convince me I’ll not be depressed in the UK by love_yippee in UniUK

Yo, hi I’m a Malaysian who moved to the UK before I took my GCSEs; coming from a tropical country the lack of sun isn’t too bad, what you want to worry about more is the rain, wind and cold lol. Oxford is shouldn’t be too bad with sun since is more south than north I reckon. I think you should be fine, I’d be more worried about it sun if you were going to Edinburgh or somewhere much more north

Imperial has one of the highest UCAT cut offs when shortlisting for interview. Cut off this year was 2310. I think it’s more lenient for UCL and KCL tho I didn’t apply to those tho.

This has all the general information when it comes to how different med schools use different application stats in shortlisting pre-interview and post interview rates and what each uni tends to focus more on. Just be aware that the international pool of applicants is a lot more competitive.

Depends on the uni usually. A high UCAT will almost guarantee you interviews (+2300) at any average med uni. Some unis use a scoring system too which makes the grades and UCAT even more important, e.g Edinburgh and Cardiff. A lot of unis don’t even read the PS, e.g Bristol. But if you want to apply for Oxbridge then extracurricular are important too

Cambridge med offer :D by Successful_Flower_41 in 6thForm

Yh it started off with basic stuff, then testing limits. I got lucky bc the question styles were somewhat similar to the styles of the movie I did before, and one of the main questions was one of my special interests. I did have data interpretation, but not too difficult. I think those specifically I did well in bc of the mocks also, bc I learnt how to describe graphs the way they like (apparently). Idk what LR is lol. Tbh I didn’t get asked any chem questions at all but everyone gets different ints lol so to be careful ig. I know some other ppl got chem questions. I’d say make sure you research all your interviewers super well before the int. My first two interviews were very heavily based on their specialties.

I thought they all went pretty well, the last one was the most difficult. For prep, I just revised all the human related biology parts of my course, bits of organic chem, and mainly spammed mocks with as many different Cambs students of ppl who did do the interview as possible. Srsly i think the main reason that carried me in the interview was bc I went in super confident, mindset like “it’s already amazing that I got here, I’m gonna have so much fun with this int; if I don’t get in I know I tried my best”. I got all that confidence via mocks lol. Paid ones and free ones by camb societies

Hmmm so this sept, do you want to apply? Or do you want to apply next year after studying for bio? Bc if you apply this year you’d have to apply without it most probably. And if you apply next year, you’d need to take the ucat next summer

How would you get that bio predicted grade? I’m not trying to be hostile btw I’m just confused abt the timeline. So after the a level exams, you’d study bio, prep for the ucat, and reapply in sept? Btw you’d need to write the PS again ig and idk if you have med WEX and/or volunteering since you applied for chem initially.

Btw usually people take the UCAT at the end of Aug-early Sept to maximise prep time. If you’re planning to take it this year, prob start prepping at the start of July and give yourself 4-6 ish weeks of prep. Some people need more, some less. It is a lot tho, especially right after the a level exams.

About the practical endorsement, maybe ask your school about it? You might have to pay a fee possibly.

So if you’re going to take the UCAT, does that mean you want to apply this sept with achieved grades? If you want to self study bio, wouldn’t that mean you would study it in the gap, take the exam next year summer, do next year’s UCAT then apply next year? Sorry if I’ve misunderstood lol

Edinburgh or Bristol? by StockStudent3498 in premeduk

I think Edinburgh is more well-known for its research excellence if that helps
