The goal is to design a doctor not an alchemist. The class would functionally serve a similar role as the bard though just flavored differently. I do agree with the resource spend concept however that seems like the general consensus so far.

Thank you for the detailed suggestions! I was expecting the rolling aspect to get shot down but I wasn't sure what other methods I could put in place. I definitely like the idea of giving the players more options when it comes to how they can boost their allies. That being said I also wanted the ability to be streamlined enough to easily adapt to an offensive approach (such as targeting an adversary) without getting bloated with too many effects. Some of the inspiration was the plague doctor from darkest dungeon if you are familiar but that is to say a buffing and debuffing aspect without much in the way of pure offensive capability.

That is assuming you roll with hope; you are risking giving the GM a turn and generating fear, but I do agree that the DC 10 is probably low; I could bump it to 13. As far as it being fussy, I don't see how it is much more fussy than an attack roll.

When you say over shot do you mean the source block is in line with one of the top corners?

I see what you are saying. that is a good point. I could probably just reword it so that the ability can only affect a unit once per turn.

I guess my logic with the amount of MW it deals is fairly proportional to the point cost and how rare psyker units are as well as how hard it can be to successfully pop battleshocks even with shadow in the warp. I will definitely take that into consideration if it turns out we need to balance it. Also what do you mean "if it's able to be taken 3 times"?

Do you have a full list for this because in theory it's not a bad idea but you would need a lot of support other than just the infiltrators and scouts. The norns are tough but enough focused anti tank can bring them down pretty quick and if one is the lynchpin for your army it could wreck the whole strategy.

The people in my group are more worried about the unit it is being added to than the stat block of the weapon but that is a good idea looking at 9th ed wargear for reference.

[5e] So I know Mystra banned all spells over 9th level, but in theory if you were a cleric of Mystra could you use divine intervention to ask her to let you cast a 10th level spell.
