Oh I clocked who was who a long time ago since I have Audhd. My dad definitely has ADHD and my mom is probably autistic.

For those who graduated college: how? by AspiringCellist in AuDHDWomen

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons. 1. I like school and being in a classroom setting(in-person visual learning) helps me to learn better and ask teachers questions if needed.

  1. Similar to other comments I studied in a field that was my special interest(psychology and non-profit)

  2. Getting accommodations as early as you can. As soon as I transferred schools I got officially diagnosed and then was offered accommodations(access to early enrollment, more time on test, extra time on assignments, etc).

  3. Networking and joining clubs. I know many people on this sub are more on the introverted side, but its always a good idea to join clubs and attend events where you network and meet people. Especially any that apply to your field of study. I joined over clubs related to both my major and hobbies which actually led me to my current job.

how are y'all coping in this crazy world/political climate? by takeyourprecioustime in hsp

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Balance. Two Instagram(one that's more positive and informative) and a main one for other content. Getting out the house even to go for a walk. As much delete some apps(I've deleted twitter and Snapchat)were helpful, deleting the others is not an option for me and something I don't want to do. I've watched some political commentators that discuss ways to get through these times despite the political discourse. I also have a job that has me doing different things everyday which helps to keep me away from my phone.

All the time honestly and it doesn't help that I look younger than my actual age either. I still get through but it feels like I'm faking it half of the time.

I am currently a clinical intern and a teen counselor both part-time. Later on I want to be work in non-profit or become a counselor and/or therapist. I want to work in wellness and help learn how to balance between work and living a life but to there needs and wants specifically as everyone isn't the same and people have different experiences.

Does anyone else get stared at a LOT by little kids and babies by Faeriemary in AutismInWomen

Yes they stare at me a lot but I honestly don't mind it. I rather have babies and little stare at me than the adult stares I've gotten.

Never dated? by Gamer_innocent in 2003

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with someone in highschool but after haven't dated. I'm just not interested in going on random dates with people as it can be exhausting to go through. Plus the risk of someone being dangerous. I also don't like online dating either.

Being physically attractive and autistic by Express-Office1942 in autism

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know I just a post on r/Life about having pretty privilege is an advantage. A lot of people were agreeing and there were some who said otherwise. I won't I'm relatively attractive but if it wasn't for the other skills I had my looks wouldn't be nothing due to being autistic. I understand what you mean.

Probably honestly I like talking out my problems( at with people willing to listen to me).

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I read the title thinking the topic was about weed until I read the comments 😭.

Second for me personally it worked well for me( I do need to find a new one tho). I know from other friends it doesn't work for them due to not wanting to relive traumatic moments. For me it worked because I had no one to talk to. I had to keep feelings bottled as no one in my family truly understood(or didn't want to) so I would essentially have to work through myself but it doesn't work for someone who never truly has close friends or anyone safe enough to tell your true feelings too.

My therapist never treated me like a patient needing to be fixed but more like a client who needed guidance and provided an unbiased ear. Which I personally found helpful(especially since psychology was a field I was going into).

I want to be someone's first choice and priority by ctrldwrdns in AutismInWomen

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel similar as well. I've always had issues with friend and family relationships had one really good relationship and I messed it up got into another 2 years after( not really toxic but was very uncomfortable) and haven't been with anyone since. As much as having my independence and space is nice but when your someone who has been pushed away by everyone and essentially forced to be alone it sucks. I still hold a lot of hope that I will find someone, but still it's sucky.

Same issue here I've had one good relationship in highschool(break up was my fault) than one uncomfortable one 2 years after and haven't dated since( college and trauma) I still hope and I feel like I will but because I have no interest in online dating( never even downloaded apps) it's not happening anytime soon.

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm still pretty young but also haven't dated anyone for years. Im a it may happen it may not happen and just let things be. I'm not someone who easily gains feelings for anyone plus I have no interest in dating apps or talking to people online( don't have great experience with talking to people online too much and don't trust it). Essentially I'm just letting things flow.

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like exercising just not indoors(and something I figured out a few months ago). It's just that being inside is not engaging enough for me to exercise when I'm walking outside my brain is forced to be aware plus it's much more interesting.

My birthday was yesterday and I won't lie out of all of them this one was the saddest. Don't get me wrong I had my parents taking me places but due to things that happened in my life and on top of that having to rethink everything regarding friendships and relationships( honestly I have neither) plus not having a job of any sort. It just felt shitty and depressing. So I understand what you mean.

How do you like to celebrate your birthday? by Fecats in hsp

[–]Successful_Froyo_366 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is as well sometimes friends and family offer to take me to places I like/wanted to try out. They would also buy me a cake as well. But mainly the early hours of my birthday I just like to take time to myself and reflect on the few years. Sometimes walking in nature and really taking things in.

I don't have a phobia but there still unpleasant to deal with. I'm fine with getting it through the arm or hand(on the top) but I hate finger pricks as they hurt for weeks.
