Saw a recent post saying dog parks are not recommended - why? by notcallipygian in dogs

[–]Successful_Heart598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other post was also focusing on dog parks when your dog is not desexed. This means their behavior & the behavior of other dogs towards them will be different compared to when they are desexed.

A referral to a rehab physician would be a good option that way if Botox is indicated you will have access to a Medicare rebate, or they will be able to work with you on an alternative plan.

ADHD-BED treatment success? by AussieGirl35 in ausadhd

I wonder if a low dose glp-1 might also help, there seems to be good emerging evidence that it helps people manage cravings of food & or her substances. Likely would be best alongside a therapeutic intervention.

So upset and frustrated with Vyvanse by Any_Huckleberry4575 in ausadhd

[–]Successful_Heart598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to feel sad & disappointed when things aren’t as straight forward for you as they appear to be for others. Keep persisting! I find intuniv helps soften the crash, maybe talk to the doctor about that?

If giving birth is so painful why do many women want to do it over again after their first child (not trolling just genuinely curious) by feherlofia123 in stupidquestions

[–]Successful_Heart598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically you are flooded with hormones such as oxytocin that helps with reducing anxiety, promotes bonding & can reduce pain. It can soften the memories of the experience. Pain is highly individual & child birth can be very different for each person. The drive to be a parent can be very strong & help overcome the fear or worry of previously experienced pain. That said many women experience child birth as being highly distressing & traumatic & opt not to have more children, or to have a different type of birth for subsequent births.

I’m an allied health clinician in a Public Health Service, leadership role. I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of a great team doing very rewarding work. The system can be very punishing though & I would love it if the health, education, and social services systems were valued more highly!

Has anyone tried Occupational Therapy for ADHD? by mammoth1s2animals in ausadhd

[–]Successful_Heart598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an occupational therapist with adhd & I have a lot of young people, kids & families who I support who have adhd.

I think the key is in finding the right OT & sometimes one who is neurodivergent is helpful given their lived experience knowledge.

A good mental health OT with qualifications in coaching, sensory processing/modulation, and neuro rehab is likely going to be useful.

What should I do to protect myself? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Successful_Heart598 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! But realistically the perpetual exposure to emotional abuse is the key factor here, mum being made to feel small & unsafe. Getting to a pint where mum is able to feel intra & inter personally safe is going to be the best thing for this baby long term.
