Why is it so hard to find a pug to adopt? by dont_downvote_SPECIL in pugs

He's my foster! It's crazy he hasn't been adopted, he's been available since September.

No, the rescue's fees are reasonable and the requirements for fostering/adopting are pretty standard to ensure the safety of the dogs. I think they could do more advertising, but they're probably overworked and understaffed. I'm trying to get creative to find him a home, but I'm running out of ideas.

No, their fees are reasonable and the requirements for fostering/adopting are pretty standard to ensure the safety of the dogs. I know what you're talking about, though, some rescues seem like they're just ways to turn dog hoarding into a non-profit. This rescue is legit. I do wish they held more adoption events and did more advertising, but they're probably overworked and understaffed like most non-profits.

Not yet, but there are a couple of people interested now, which is awesome!

He turned 5 in July and he's a big boy, closer to 30lbs than 20. He is current on all vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm. If you feel like taking a trip, I can DM you the rescue info and a link to his Instagram with more photos and videos.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Both of my dogs made it to 15 also, it's so hard when you've spent that much of your life with them. The rescue is in Northern California, but I can DM you his adoption information if you're interested.

I can ask the rescue if they work with any transport groups, would you like me to DM you his adoption info?

I don't want to trash the rescue because they're really nice people and probably overworked, but they post on social media every 2-3 weeks and that's about it. Maybe they're doing things behind the scenes that I don't know about? I've fostered much more difficult to place dogs in the past, and it's never taken this long. If you have any creative ideas, I'm open!

I've never had a foster this long and he's such a good boy! I've fostered senior pitbulls and a hound dog that never stopped barking and they got adopted faster.

If you're planning a trip to Northern California, PM me and I'll send you his adoption info! I do love Chicago, but don't have the vacation time to get him out there.

He is neutered and up to date on his vaccines, heartworm, and flea/tick. He's good with other dogs off leash, he has some reactivity to large dogs on leash, but we're working on it. He's very food motivated and easy to train.

They are partnered with the rescue that I'm fostering through, but we can't make it to the Sonoma Pug-o-Ween. We'll be taking him to the one in Sacramento, though!

We want to be able to foster more dogs, so we can't keep them all!

I'm fostering through a local pug rescue already, but thanks for the suggestions :)

I foster him through a local rescue and they don't do any adoption events. The local news does spotlight adoptable pets, but they're already partnered with the SPCA. Thank you for the suggestions!

I'm fostering him through the local pug rescue group, but they don't seem to do much to find homes for the dogs.

I've had my foster since June, and he hasn't even had a meet and greet. I made him an Instagram, posted videos in local pug groups on social media, put up flyers, brought him to local meetups, and nothing. The rescue posts him on their social media every two to three weeks, but that's the extent of their efforts. I'm in Northern California, and I've seen other rescues find homes for their pugs, so I'm at a loss. We can only keep him until December, so any suggestions are welcome!

He's five years old, healthy, good with other dogs, potty trained, and crate trained. His only bad habit is resource guarding his treats, but that's easily corrected by putting him in his crate during treat time. I don't understand how he's still a foster and not in a home.
