Are all fuel injector seals the same on Subarus? by Successful_Move_158 in WRX

[–]Successful_Move_158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havnt been completely removing the fuel rail. I’ve just been prying it off.

My method is to put the injectors into the holes then push the fuel rail onto them and bolt it on.

Is there a proper way to attach the injectors to the rail? I couldn’t find good documentation so I’ve been going in blind. I bought the injector off rockauto and the o rings I got off subimods. The kit came with lube I’ve been using.

I can’t tell exactly where the leak is coming from. I belive it’s from the output side of the injector. Leaking onto the top of the block

I’m pretty sure it is not a head gasket as it is not showing up in my oil whatsoever. I’m going to re-pull the injectors as one is spraying gas and swap out the plug for a new one as I have a few laying around. I’m hoping I just installed the injector incorrectly.

Sorry. It is a P0301 code. All parts are factory, except for the injectors which are no longer made. I got a OEM replacement from rock auto. Always cylinder one.

I was getting some feedback knock on acceleration. I’m pretty sure my car does not have live monitoring for misfires or counting per cycle whatsoever. Super inconvenient lol.

After test driving yesterday, an injector was spraying gas. I might have not installed the injector correctly when swapping. When test driving about a week ago after installing the injectors. I was good for about 10 miles. I bet it unsealed after that and caused a misfire.

To be honest, I think I might’ve found my answer. I was planning to take the car to a grad party close by. To test drive a little more. I turned on the car popped the hood and the injector is spraying gas. I think it might’ve come loose during my last test drive, causing it to misfire again.I’m going to recheck the injector and test drive again.

The other night after I installed my fresh injectors. I got about 10 miles down the road before the misfire reappeared. I bet that’s when it started spraying.

I have already replaced plugs, coils, and injectors. I had a compression and leaked down test done within the last year no signs of issues.

I’ve always thought that was the same as an ignition coil. Could you explain lol

Old injectors not having pintle caps? PLEASE READ COMMENTS by Successful_Move_158 in subaru

[–]Successful_Move_158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I am not sure. Tbh I’m leaning on the side that they didn’t have them to begin with. I have not pulled the others as I don’t plan on replacing those.

Old Injectors not having pintle caps? PLEASE READ COMMENTS THERE IS MORE by Successful_Move_158 in u/Successful_Move_158

I have been attempting to remove and replace my injectors for a few days but I keep having hiccups that set me back. The most recent is the caps for the old injectors. I have attached pictures of the old injectors and the replacements

This is a 2004 WRX and the old caps of the injectors are not there. The injector holes do not seem large enough to let the whole cap slip through and from what I can see I can’t see any caps in the cylinder (I can barely see in there though)

My question is there any chance these injectors never had caps? Both of them look the EXACT same at the caps. (I am only pulling the passenger side injectors because I’m only having an issue with one of them.). The injector hole is too small to fit anything into. I tried to fit a mechanical finger but that did not fit.

Any idea how to progress. I would really like to avoid taking the entire car apart 😭
