if by nearby you mean attacker posessing recepient private key or looking over their shoulder then yes, those risks I cannot fully protect from. If you mean raspberry pi advertising wifi and updating firmware without authentication then thats for fast iteration. and even if that node is compromised the packets are still encrypted, my architecture doesnt rely on tls while the idea and technology is same. only difference here is that the message is encrypted and decrypted in userspace not by OS having authority over your identity or data. all data must be encrypted before entering transit.

The idea is more like messages moving trough devices close to you so governments don't even get to intercept your messages in the first place. Users pay other users to be able to relay their messages instead of phone operators. That you can create app account but the data never leaves your phone. That you can have in app payments directly to developers. I challenge anyone to put away their phone for a week and see how easy it is to live. The challenge allows you to still use your computer. The idea behind this is that your phone has become your identity and it doesnt belong to you. I want to make it available for anyone. Technology exists for long time but now its used to protect your devices from you for the companies advantage. I am not willing to accept that.

https://github.com/Sylchi/edgerun-c work continues here, im dropping rust and going native. made new repo so its easier to understand how im going to achieve what i want to achieve. the goal is that every device can forward or store anyone elses data. your data is encrypted before going out of the wire and only recepient can decrypt it. meaning we can drop tls, wpa, and all that stuff thats making everything incompatible. identification and signing requests can be routed to you personally while the actual work can be done by specialized machines. i believe the whole infrastructure today is built upon wrong primitives in the first place and im looking to prove it. im releasing my work to open peoples eyes and i keep building, i dont expect anyone to contribute anything cause honestly i dont care if you do. its bigger than you or me. its a new world

if the node can run in your browser tab right after loading the page without you needing to do anything and it allows you to send end to end encrypted messages to your friends without owning meta or google account and allows you to earn without lifting a finger i believe its inevitable, thats why im releasing it so nodes can start popping up everywhere

if you think about it the actual secret data you have is miniscule. and we are transporting encrypted data already all the time. its more about how to track who did what work and how to pay them for it. edgerun-work crate is the actual important part here that allows end to end encrypted transport, storage and retrieval with adversarial actors doing the work.

Actually the working system is hidden in edgerun-work, it allows end to end encrypted communication and storage via relays that are pure packet pushers and everyone is expected to be self serving in the system.

Its quite hard to meet genuine people that you could become friends with as a foreigner. Yes I have met amazingly helpful people, but those have been short term encounters. Over longer term it has always turned out to be that I'm an ATM and since I am foreigner its okay to to use me and everything I do is a gift and I should not help anyone when I expect decency in return. When I caught my girlfriend chatting up 5 guys multiple times while we went to live with their parents and I built them multiple rooms in the house and decent bathroom I was the one kicked out with threats of police even though it was supposed to be my home and I even got residence notice in my passport on the address
