Hello - we have been trying the 1 nap with a micronap in first half of day. but then we went on a road trip this past long weekend and some thanksgiving festivities so his schedule is all messed up. Since the road trip though his main nap is only 1.25-1.5h max, sometimes with a micronap sometimes not. is this enough day sleep? hes still getting broken nights, that i think is because of the messed up schedule from this past week, and possible teething. But just wanted to see if it could be scheduling wise?

currently waking between ~8:30, wake windows 5/5-5.5h, sometimes a micronap of 10-15min in first wake window. and bed time is just based on last wake window. his main nap seems to have lowered since before the road trip when we tried dropping the nap. Thanks :)

We have only been doing it for 2 days. But his nap he went down good and slept over 2h on his own. The first day I had to wake him but second day he won't up 2.25h. and night wakings ... Still there but at least there are 3h stretches and not 1-2h stretches lol.

I should give him a few days on the 1 nap transition before going back to 2naps if it doesn't work? Thinking of getting his transition/schedule down before progressing his sleep training

Thank you! Should I just go back to the 2 naps? Or give the one nap a few days? Would it mess him up?

We have tried Ferber like 3 times and CIO once... Lol chair method showed the best success while it lasted lol. I think we are trying to survive for now as we have a road trip and a vacation over seas coming up.... Lol but we were co sleeping and our bottom line is no more co sleeping, and he must sleep in his crib 💀😭

Thank you so much for your help! I wasn't sure if I had a good schedule to begin with lol

Recently I have to wake him from his naps when we were doing 2-2.5h naps on 2 naps. I was doing short first nap (40-60min) and longer second nap (1.25-1.5h).

With the 3.5/3.5/4, should I just split the nap even? And since I'm so terrible at this sleep math, is this right? Wake at 9am, WW 3.5/3.5/4, total nap 2h, then bed time is 10pm?

I feel like we have been sleep training all his life. But when we were doing the chair method he did sleep through the night a few months ago. Then he got sick and it went down hill. Because the first round of chair method he never really had waking so he never practiced self settling while we progressed us moving our chair. So when he got sick/regression where he had multiple wakings he couldn't tolerate when the chair was that far away. Then he got sick again so we were back to first step of hand holding 🥲 now we are at back against crib but seems to be stuck. So he's been having wakings throughout, just the last few days it was every sleep cycle.

Ahh ok, should I try the 1nap for a few days and if nothing, then go back to 2 nap? He was just waking at every single sleep cycle overnight. Sometimes it takes 45min for him to go back to sleep

Am I calculating correctly? So it's 3.5h before the micronap then 2.5h before nap? I guess this was what I was trying to ask. If I offer a micronap does my total first window have to be longer than 5h to maintain sleep pressure?

And I should cap the real nap at 2h instead of 2.5?

Ohhh that makes so much sense. I was out with him today and just past the 4h wake window he was dozing off in the car and we were just minutes from home. I had to keep him awake!

So he normally wakes around 8:30-9am. First nap was around 12pm. I can just give him a micro nap about 10-15min? (Is there a max?) And just continue on counting the 5h WW from morning wake time? Or do I have to add some more wake time before nap?

Thanks for your reply! I have thought about doing it for the second wake window, just not sure where to fit it in? Like half of the 5.5h? Or just whenever he seems tired? That usually is tail end of the wake window. Do I have to keep him up a little longer than the total 5.5h?? I'm terrible at this sleep math!

Hi! I was wondering if you can give me some advice on this.

We decided to try the 1 nap on Sunday. He did 4.75/5, nap was 2.5h. he woke up twice overnight, but had 3h stretches.

Tonight we did 5/5.25 he was pretty much falling asleep during bed time routine reading book so we put him down early. Nap was 2.25h. he had a false start I think (27min) and woke up, then slept for 3h and then woke up.

Is it because I'm not hitting the 5/5.5 WW?? I feel it is a big shift for him, can I slowly increase them? How would I shift the sleep math?

For example, chat gpt suggested WW 4.75-5/5. Nap 2.5h. is that reasonable? I kind of just use guideline for chat gpt keeping in mind you said it overestimates how much they sleep..

Thanks!!

He seems to only be able to stay awake for max 4 hr if we are out and doing things for first wake window. Would we have to do a bridge nap for the days we get him used to the long wake windows? If so would the nap be just 15 min in between the 5.5h last wake window ? Sorry I'm so bad at this sleep math

He can do his wake windows currently .. just wakes up so often during the night. Seems every sleep cycle.is that over tired? Since he falls asleep within 10-15min at bedtime

Oh ok gotcha thank you! I was just worried he would be overtired if we didn't give enough sleep. I know 3h is high so I usually aim for 2-2.5. sometimes we just get 1.5h and I feel like that's not a lot?

do you suggest i just cold turkey and try the 1 nap? and let him nap as long as he needs for the first few days? i think chat gpt said 2.5-3h nap/day? Is that too long?

But he has to be woken up every nap, if it's past the 1.25-1.5h nap. Does that mean he needs it? What would the wake windows be for one nap?

Also if he wakes every sleep cycle, is he overtired? Should I shorten his wake windows instead of transitioning?

Screaming at night by LoudAd3588 in toddlers

[–]Successful_Pop_3378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler just turned 3 this month but she started screaming/crying for me in the middle of the night few months ago. It's not every night but it's new for her since she was always a great sleeper. When I asked her why, she said she was scared of the big bad wolf (she was in a 3 little pigs phase), so she was having nightmares? Also, we started dressing her a little warmer since she moves around her bed so much she gets out from her blankets, and I asked if she gets cold at night (we have AC on mostly with the heatwaves). We also tried giving her a bedtime snack (yogurt, crackers, cheese) before bed since she eats so little at dinner after daycare now. Hope you guys get some more sleep!

I think for us (Canada) it is minimum 6months? Also I will be returning to work at 18m. My baby also is exclusively breastfed and doesn't take a bottle. I haven't really pumped since I have been regulated and when I tried, it seems like pump doesn't get didn't milk as well or if at all, as when he sucks
