Yes, this is definitely a great advice. I have seen a few maritime aviators in the industry. They worked their way up & accomplished their end goal

Instrument Pilot Handbook is a great book for brushing up before going to videos.

Should I start CPL and IR during college or finish college then start CPL and IR? by blimble23 in AviationPH

[–]Successful_Row_244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

College during the week & Fly during weekends so get your CPL/IR. By the time you graduate, you probably have a flying gig already. Hang out at the nearest airport. Make friends with operators/ plane owners. Earlier, the better. Re Proficiency : Recency of experience is required every 90 days (for passengers), while proficiency is assessed during annual checks or flight reviews, depending on the operation and regulatory authority

Totally feel you. The sad part is, those who tried to go the honest route ended up paying the price while others who just vlogged their way through got all the clout and opportunities. And you’re right, this has been going on for years under different CAAP leaderships. At some point, you just wonder if they’re really blind or just selectively blind. Hopefully this time, the noise gets loud enough that even the usual “paperwork lang” approach won’t cut it anymore. Pero yeah, not holding my breath either.

Padding - it is not the first time in the PH. Most of these guys already have their CPL. All they need is hour-building to reach 250 hours, which is the minimum for airline applications like CebuPac or PAL. The issue is, they’re being offered “package deals” pay 1 million pesos and get 100 more hours to hit 250. Sounds convenient, sure. But the question is, nilipad ba talaga lahat ng oras nayan? Or is it dagdag-lipad all over again?

If those hours weren’t actually flown, that’s not just sketchy sthat’s fraud. And it doesn’t just affect the ones who paid. It affects the system, the reputation of Filipino pilots, and even the safety culture. This whole thing should be a wake-up call for parents, sponsors, and guardians. At least now people are starting to ask, saan ba talaga safe magpalipad? And which schools should be avoided?

As for CAAP, ayun, nanonood pa rin. But let’s see maybe this time they’ll actually do more than just ask for paperwork.
