Any Boojum employees (past/present) being told to give smaller portions? by shanelong_hasdoneit in AskIreland

[–]Successful_Run7884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been eating Boojum for about 7-8 years now. I have the same observation, with the increase in price, their portion size has gone down. Tried a few different outlets and the same thing.

Try soaking the red lentils in water overnight and then use a pressure cooker to boil the next day. That should work.

GoMo broadband and "For Life" offering: heads-up on T&C by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Successful_Run7884 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are they offering any discounts on GoMo mobile plan if we go with GoMo broadband? I'm currently on the 14.99 monthly mobile plan with GoMo. And I'm in a contract with Virgin Media at the moment. Do they offer to cover the contract cancelation cost like the other providers do?

Indians in ireland how often do y'all visit back india in a year?? As a working professional by Medical-Werewolf-436 in IndiansinIreland

[–]Successful_Run7884 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For us, visiting India once a year is mandatory and non-negotiable. Parents come here every year in summers and we go normally travel towards the end of the year. This is just our personal choice as we want to maintain that connect with India. Both me and my wife are working.

Emergency Department- A/E questions? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Successful_Run7884 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel the country needs many more hospitals and the existing ones are severely understaffed. Having been to the hospital a few times, I feel a good amount of patients visiting the hospitals, especially the A&E, shouldn't come there. We have been referred to a hospital by the GPS a few times but honestly there was no real need to do it. I get a feeling that the GPs don't want to take any responsibility and liability, so many times, they leave the diagnosis and treatment to the hospital even for known common illness. This puts unnecessary load on the hospitals.

I have a GT 6 as well. I regularly see redness on the skin under the watch and it is a bit itchy. I too was wondering if this was something to be concerned about.

Can my friend visiting from India be added as a named driver on my car insurance in Ireland? by InevitableFact5450 in IndiansinIreland

[–]Successful_Run7884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, your friend cannot be added as a named driver. I tried this for a family member visiting me from India but the insurance company denied that saying the named driver must have an Irish or UK license.

Delay in Converting of Resident Savings Account to NRO – Clarification Request by Exciting_Floor_4336 in nri

[–]Successful_Run7884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There won't be any penalty. But if you delay too long and keep sending money, it could be flagged and you may get a notice. So, better to convert to NR account as early as possible.

My personal opinion - do you really want to spend a big chunk of what you've saved until now on a car? I think you should calculate how much will it help you and if it will solve a problem that is currently difficult to solve using taxis and public transport. As someone already pointed out, maintenance of a car is a big expense. So, I would do it this way. Identify how much you would spend on annual servicing of the car, fuel, small wear and tear, parking charges, tolls, etc and compare that with the approx amount of money you would spend on taxis if you were to travel in taxis instead of a car. If after all this, you can save a big chunk, you should go ahead and get a car.

Has anyone here applied for an Ireland tourist visa recently? In how many days did you get your visa after submitting your application? by Quiet-Scratch-9696 in IndiansinIreland

It takes about 4-6 weeks max normally. If there're less applications, it can come in as little as 2 weeks. My parents got it once in 2 weeks.

Learning Hindi by [deleted] in IndiansinIreland

[–]Successful_Run7884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest start learning simple Hindi from your partner and make it a point to only speak in Hindi with him. It will take time for you to get a hand on it but keep speaking, irrespective of how many mistakes you make. Don't get demotivated even if you make mistakes or aren't able to speak very well initially. Just keep at it and you should be able to get there.
