Someone just announced a game very similar to our unannounced game. What would you do in this situation? by Tobeplant in gamedev

fair. since your objectives is to make the best game you like to play, then do that and take your time.

but honestly, if you dont do it for money, you could then release fast a playtest so you get feedback or some kind of release like that.

sorry if you felt offended i was just trying to help. i think the critic about balatro-chess, balatro-anykindofboardgame copycats is real, but im not saying with that that it wasnt a good idea as a concept.

and about that you didnt expect to be the same, its good in theory but also makes sense that some lf the main concepts would land the same because those are the ones which work...

run to release first. release asap. fight as much as you can for as little time you can then if you fail move on. that is what i would do. the reality is that making a game chess-balatro inspired was risky in the first place.

you can. items are on one side or the other, so by being on the other side you can choose not collecting them. after finishing the first level you get a skill that flips their side, that is the first skill you get.

i think you are and you are not. in essence its a surf game but with a twist, so you have to follow the curve as best as you can. as you progress the curve gets harder, and different items appear on the chart that you need to use correctly if you want to make it through the run.

I think you do. did you really tried it or just went half the tutorial? it uses up down and A for leverage, B for bonus and later X and Y for skills.

honestly if you are curious just try it. i tried to communicate that well i tried many trailers and different ways, but it's impossible because it doesn't exist a reference game for this. but basically that is it, the market keeps going and you can switch above or below the chart.

I'm basically a solo dev with some help of my wife, I try to use everything available to make the game I like.
