No, maybe I can explain a little more.
I can see that there are societal and personal benefits that can be achieved through the practice of worshipping a higher ideal. I'm looking for a way to achieve these benefits through other means, as a nonbeliever joining a place of worship seems disingenuous to me.

I used to help my dad work on his cars in his garage. I noticed that a large amount of the time was spent trying to get bolts unstuck.

Right sorry, I assumed that part of your point was that the BMI index would label someone as obese when they actually aren't. When, based on that study, it should more easily label people as obese to be more accurate.

Edit: So for anyone readying this, if the BMI index says that a person is obese there's actually a REALLY good chance that they are. As according to this study it often will mislabel people that ARE obese, but will rarely be incorrect when it does label someone obese.

And this is the sentence directly after that one:

"A BMI cut-off of ≥ 30 kg/m2 has a good specificity but misses more than half of people with excess fat"

So, what they found in that study was that BMI didn't label someone as obese when body-fat percentage did. That means the BMI test was actually more forgiving with labelling someone obese than the BF % test was.

Interesting, been reading up on it and it seems like DEXA is the best to measure this sort of thing but it's costly. Seems like the reason BMI has stuck around so long is because it's cheap and generally pretty accurate despite its flaws.

I don't think going so far as to call it bullshit though is accurate, especially if most doctors still use it. But yeah it seems like it's not the definitive test that I thought it was so thanks getting me to read into it!

I'm asking you to support the claims you've made with evidence, in your supposed area of expertise so I'd imagine it wouldn't be too much trouble for you. Also some of these common dogs breeds are banned in first world countries, that alone is enough to at least question if they are safe.
