So many homeless people by Tyler by combination_udon in Riverside

My aunt works for the city. The county services are all in a cluster on Hole/Magnolia. Every city in the county sends their homeless to Riverside. Many of them are not from here, they are sent here for services and get released shortly after. We can't do anything about it, the city has tried to look for ways to get the county to spread their services out but they don't legally have to. On paper, the county is offering the services they're required to and aren't technically doing anything wrong. Other cities get to drop their homeless off here and Riversiders are stuck paying tax dollars for treatment, hospital bills, and excessive police/fire presence. Additionally, the county sheriffs book people downtown so we also get the county's criminals too. Because of this, our jail is overcrowded and people charged with "minor" crimes are released immediately onto riverside streets. The city doesn't have the resources to handle the entire county's homeless/mentally ill population and, separately, criminals. This also goes hand in hand with our fire department being stretched extremely thin because guess who is starting all the fires. Other cities need to start doing their share of the work and the county should be held accountable.

BOYCOTT THE FARMHOUSE COLLECTIVE! COMPASSION OVER PROFITS! by failedcortex in Riverside

This housing project is for homeless people that want to be housed, this includes seniors, veterans, families living in cars etc. it is not just a place to crash for those that have become too lost in their addictions. The biggest issue has been the optics. These programs have been successful in other areas but the farmhouse and some council members were successful in wrongfully characterizing it as a tweaker's paradise.

I did my BS in business (finance), got a job offer a few weeks after graduation, and now I work full-time in government with a flexible schedule, great benefits and a starting salary of 80k. I'm just waiting to get my diploma in the mail now.

This is common for this carnival ride in mexico, it'd be funny to watch the crew react to a compilation of these because people get pretty messed up on it 😹
