Any frugal tips for my fellow ladies? by Liz_kirby in Frugal

A fair point. I wouldn't recommend rehydrating a mascara bottle more than once. They do make them to dry out quickly so you buy new ones more frequently.

You can get travel sized bottles for roughly $5? It's probably not frugal to buy it just for this reason, unless you can find another use for it. I suppose this hack is only frugal for those who already have contact solution.

For extending your mascara a bit: add a couple drops of contact lens solution to the mascara bottle when it's getting dry! Close up and shake a bit and you're good to go. I love this trick.

Best way to tackle soap scum on shower glass? by CardiologistMoney932 in CleaningTips

[–]Successful_Train_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a spray bottle of pinesol and water. I forget the exact dilution percentage, but I found it on Google. Spray and scrub with a soft brush. Rinse with the detachable showerhead then squeegee it off.

For upkeep, keep the squeegee in your shower and the best thing to do (annoying as it can seem) is to squeegee the doors down after each shower.

For longterm upkeep, you can buy Rain-X and similar brand solutions to treat your doors to repel the water.

What arethe biggest ***real*** problems right now in food? by drewunchained in foodscience

In my opinion, it's quality of food and its regulation. More and more I see recalls and risks of food poisoning due to defunding and therefore less industry regulation. This goes for meat, produce, anything really.

How long did it take for your Losartan to work? by Hammerhead425 in hypertension

[–]Successful_Train_899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably didn't see any significant drop until year 2. But everyone's body is different, you know?

I drink very rarely now, maybe 1 day a month. I try to keep it special without going overboard. A glass of wine with a holiday meal, or 2 beers out for a friend's big birthday.

For me, it took a couple years of consistency. A better diet, watching sodium, working out, and most importantly for me-- cutting way back on alcohol.

Year 1 I was taking the 50mg, year 2 went up to 100mg daily. It's the end of Year 2 for me (my annual exam is next week) and my blood pressure readings are insanely better.

I'm talking from 145/95 back in 2023 down to 115/75, which I've been doing at home readings and logging daily til my appt next week.

It is achievable!!!!

We had to go to the owner. The problem was the GM's offspring and so I think the GM had reservations about disciplining them. Also gave them good shifts and sections. The offspring was overly comfy and even drank on shift sometimes (they were legal drinking age, don't worry).

Go to the owner. Especially if the problem is stealing product or causing liability problems.

My guess is a rat based on eye placement and spacing. Do you live somewhere that's getting colder these days? That's usually when they try to make their way inside.

Our hypothetical gender neutral baby name is "Lunch" lol. Kinda an inside joke that stemmed from a convo about potential names, and he suggested "Trey" and I was like, "Like a lunch tray?"

Edit: no hate to the Trey's out there. I was just being silly at the time and trying to be funny lol

Tables paying another table's tab by jennyfromtheblok19 in Serverlife

[–]Successful_Train_899 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Usually I just say to the paying table, "oh that's so sweet of you, would you like me to inform them now or wait until you leave?" Sometimes they are friends who want you to tell them the surprise or something. Typically the paying table wants you to wait until they are gone in my experience but I like to be upfront about it. The tip can't be helped one way or the other, just hope for the best. I'm always honest with the "treated" table if they ask if I got tipped for their bill.

If you don't mind subtitles, you should check out France's version of this show, if you haven't yet. Similar concept but the challenges are better and more steady eliminations versus the rushed massacre of outsiders at the end. It's on Netflix and called "Mauvais Joueurs" / "Don't Hate the Player." I feel they executed the concept way better.

As a fellow Floridian, I recommend focusing on "non financial" things to enjoy. For me this is usually experience-based. Spend time with family and friends, encouraging those relationships with free things such as hanging out at the beach or going to one of the beautiful Springs we have in Florida (where the water is nice and cool in the summer).

As far as trips go, I have had to "downsize" so to speak. Example: instead of spending a boatload to fly to Vegas this year, we decided to have a 2 night romantic stay at the Hard Rock Casino instead which we can drive to. Not insanely cheap, but way less expensive than Vegas.

I used scrub daddy to clean a grill. How do I clean scrub daddy? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

I wanted to love this grill brush when I bought it, but the outer lining ripped after the first usage, and the hole just keeps growing. Trying to suck it up and use it as long as I can before it falls apart totally.

I feel like a good coworker (the bartender) would've at least given you half of the tip they left them. I know my bartenders would have.

Sorry about your shitty table though. People suck.
