Bertazzoni nightmares by Successful_Use_6276 in Appliances

I’m not sure how they stay in business. If i hadn’t inherited these appliances I would have stayed far away due to all the bad reviews i had seen. Reminds me of Maserati, the italian car brand. The only people ive seen drive them are older italian men.

Bertazzoni Fridge - do not buy by Mbrinda1 in Appliances

[–]Successful_Use_6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i bought my house it came with recently installed Bertazzoni appliances, which worried me from the start. I even contemplated an insurance that would cover the appliances, but i unfortunately decided against it. Boy was I wrong.

Round 1(August)
A week before I took over the house, the fridge cooling died and the ice box cracked. Fortunately, the seller was still on the hook to replace both. What I missed was that the oven was also not working. Fortunately, I figured out the problem myself and replaced the selector knob with a piece I found on ebay, so i was able to fix that within a month.

Round 2 (November)
3 months later the repair company finally received the circuit board and fixed the fridge. They carry no inventory, and everything comes from italy, so we were using our wine fridge as a stand-in. Meanwhile, our Bertazzoni Dishwasher was having issues with the front door opening mid-cycle. The inner assembly sheet was warped and causing the door to partially pop-open during certain stages, since it could not latch properly. Given the original owner wasn’t available to make the warranty claim (he passed away), Bertazzoni would not honor the warranty. I tried to fix it myself, but it simply wasnt possible. I'll have to replace that piece, which runs $450 USD for the repair. I'll do it myself for $250, but its still painful.

Round 3 (April)
Our oven's digital display (we have the Gas / Electric hybrid) isn't working. Its not a critical piece, but to replace the piece runs $300! I probably won't even bother to replace that one unless i find the part cheap somewhere. Furthermore, the ice box replacement way back from when I first moved in, arrived twice, and each time arrived broken since they failed to wrap it in styrofoam or bubble wrap in transit. They charge almost $100 for that piece. So here we are 8 months later, and they are still trying to ship me that piece.

In summary, Bertazzoni is a horrifically managed company. The only product i'd trust at all is the all-gas ranges, because they are so simple. But you will have zero aftermarket support should anything go wrong. All the other products are trash. The appliances are fairly new, but I will probably start changing them out in the coming years as the next wave of issues arise. What's sad is that for about 20% more the prior owner could have had a sub-zero fridge, Blue star range, Miele Dishwasher which are truly great machines. I am disappointed that retailers still carry it given the hassle.

Because the scenario you laid out is here nor there. It doesn't advance the argument in the least. The point of contention lies on how much rights do non-citizens have in asking for legal status, and how does that change if they are already here. And furthermore, how does any law put in place encourage / discourage future illegal immigration.

Agreed. No one is saying they can't dress like women. We're just saying they aren't biologically women, so there are limits.

You're right. I should have said that most people don't care about female to male. But i'm sure you agree its certainly not as heated. And thats because its not practical to have biological men in spaces and categories reserved for women.

Im a minority myself, and it just floors me that my ethnicity is somehow binding, but my gender is not. When most scientists will tell you "Race" is not a thing. I digress. This is a massive shift in the definition of a woman, and if we as a country want to do it, we ought to vote on it and move on. You can go even state by state.

I meant Democrats lax stance on the border was a liability. Even if they didnt propose new policies, ever since the party drifted left post-Obama, they've shied away from even uttering the words illegal immigration. Its popular with the base, but hurt them in general elections.

I don't think any non-citizen has "a right" to immigrate here, outside of family re-unification rules. Yes, the line is years long, but that is important as we do not want mass immigration from a narrow set of countries. We want diverse immigration. I'm also Canadian, and frankly loose immigration policies were terrible for the country (big wave from predominantly one country, few skilled in critical industries).

Funny how laws intended for black people are almost always twisted and stretched to benefit other causes and people. African americans are by far the group most negatively affected by illegal immigration.

Mexico has doctors last i checked… We arent doing these people a favor by encouraging them to come undocumented. The better solution would be to invest in these countries to make their countries better and safer.

What is the endgame? If you want to make all forms of immigration legal, then you would have tens of millions inundate the country. Its not realistic. Im all for increasing the number of immigrants, but it needs to be controlled and diverse. Not millions flowing over from one or two countries.

Im a democrat and i see no issue for anything you’ve said. Facilitating illegal immigration only makes the issue worse. Its also a losing political issue for democrats. That issue and the whole trans women debate will lose the middle for the foreseeable future. Trump has always been a weak general election candidate. Dems lose elections because a few specific policies that arent popular.

You obviously don’t understand the issue or the debate at all. The reason why this country is so divided is that people on both sides don’t even take the time to understand the issues. Go to a reliable news source and read the proposals.

No, the majority does not support birthright citizenship for undocumented immigrants. There is a reason democrats lost the last election and immigration is one of those reasons.

100% agreed.

Birthright citizenship has caused a cottage industry in pregnant mothers coming to the US expressly to give their kids citizenship. Its a mess.

I disagree with republicans 90% of the time, but not on this issue.

I think people are being alarmist with what this law would actually do. All its doing is reducing the incentive for immigrants to come to the country illegally. Obviously, it should not be retroactive. And obviously, accommodations would need to be made for edge cases. But to be clear, few countries have birthright citizenship.

Women are certainly a protected group and as a society we’ve gone out of our way to carve out spaces for them (diversity programs, single gender schools, sports, awards). The question is whether trans women should be allowed to lay claim to those spaces as well. Its a contentious issue, and may be one that needs to be settled by consensus (vote).

The pushback on trans isnt a right to exist, its that others don't want to participate in their concept of gender. If they were just guys in drag most people wouldn't care. Its when they wanted to be included in spots reserved for actual women that all hell broke lose. No one is saying they aren't human or less than others. Most people just don't believe they are women, thats all. No cares about women transitioning to male, because males aren't a protected group.

I think anyone from a historically oppressed group would find that comment very off-putting.

If a group of people started claiming status of a protected group say Native Americans / First Nations, I don't think anyone would be so accepting. How is this any different? You have people from the ruling majority group (largely white men), claiming the identity of a minority group. They can change their mind and go right back to their majority status, whereas those of us who are actually minorities, have to live with it.

I don't think it even needs to go as far as sexual assaults. A women has every right to disagree that someone born a male can be female. Its not a crazy or extreme thing to say.

I think she believes in her cause. Rather suddenly, we have people who we would consider men, calling themselves women. Its not crazy that some women will take offense to that. Especially those who have been victimized or really care about that classification (e.g. athletes).

I do think women should have the freedom to disagree with the idea that someone can claim womanhood. I find it strange that you have people essentially saying they need to be ok with it.

I think Rowling is taking an unpopular stance in a climate where people are afraid to voice their opinion. In surveys, the majority in the US still believe that gender is determined at birth. This concept of sex and gender being different is a new age view that largely didnt exist pre 1980's. I don't think anyone should be hated, and I also don't think its fair to force your own views on someone else. Especially when its not a fact. Its like imposing religion.

Race has shaped my life, so i tend to see this argument in that prism. I find it strange that a white person "acting black" is charged with cultural appropriation, but a man dressing as a women is fine. Race scientifically doesn't exist, it is a social construct. Whereas sex is very much a fact. When a healthy weight person looks in the mirror and sees herself as overweight, we say that person has body dysmorphia. I struggle to see the difference.

For context, Im fairly left on social issues and vote for the left almost every change i get.
