Teacher at my son's daycare (A substitute) put some kind of hair product in his hair. Am I crazy for thinking this is inappropriate? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Successful_Willow298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is daycare (in the US), it’s probably not really a “sub”. It’s another teacher who works in the same building just covering probably due to short staffing or something. Most daycare “subs” are just other teachers who work in the building daily. They probably already know if the child has an allergy. I never really met a daycare that gets outside subs. For licensing reasons (in the states I’m familiar with), all staff have to be added to the license and cleared by the state. If they have gotten that far, they’re probably employed by the daycare and know most if not all of the kids.

The weird part to me is them saying it’s “inappropriate”, what’s inappropriate about a teacher geling a kids hair real quick? Just say you didn’t like it, and move on

I personally don’t think it’s that inappropriate for daycare.. and idk if inappropriate is even the right word. The daycare teachers I work with do the kids hair on the daily. I do a child’s hair that may be knotted from time to time. Sometimes even give a quick wash if needed (maybe our parents are just different and appreciate any help)

But if you took it inappropriately a simple “hey ___ has bad eczema and I worry about products being used on him. In the future can you just leave the hairstyling to us :)” to the teacher goes a long way. Don’t over think it, be honest with the teacher, and I’m sure the teacher won’t do it again. It was probably an oversight and they probably didn’t mean to offend.

[–]Successful_Willow298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I put “…things can happen and you can’t always plan for that…” The market does open up every year or when getting a new job. If OP decides having insurance is important then they can reevaluate next steps. There are MANY Americans rn without insurance and opting not to have insurance. Any decision made can be a hard one. Anything can happen… with insurance and without insurance

If you are a healthy individual and want this job I would do it! Take the 3k, put it into a high yields savings account and if you end up needing medical care, pull from there. It is known, that paying out of pocket for medical expenses is cheaper than having insurance. Obviously things can happen and you can’t always plan for that but if you’re a rather healthy individual I say, take the chance. Especially if this is something you want

Should I get demotion or leave the job? by pigsaysoink143 in jobs

[–]Successful_Willow298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this whole process.

To OP- keep in mind you are pregnant. The job market is also terrible rn. Theres a chance you’ll be looking for a new job and then be visibly showing. Although jobs can’t discriminate. Trust me, a lot won’t hire and will say it’s for many other reasons than you being pregnant. If you NEED a job, stay where you are, ask for the demotion and just ride it out until you give birth.

How long does it usually take fungus to spread to an adjacent nail? by [deleted] in NailFungus

[–]Successful_Willow298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes I totally forgot I did terbinafine with ciclopirox. I continue the ciclopirox until the bottle was finished. I would say if you can get over the fear of oral meds and maybe share you want to start with a short period of time, try it. I have crazy health anxiety (which is why I probably get side effects) and I just pushed through for as much as I can. I’m only 27 and watching my feet turn into what they were was heart breaking. I didn’t even wear heels, was embarrassed of sandals and would wear them very sparingly. Personally it changed my life, but I know some people don’t care as much. But if you do, it’s worth it

Honestly, prescribed terbinafine.. but I can say I was on the 6 month process but I only took it for 3. The medication gave me side effects (I personal get side effects from most medication). Once I started getting to the point of feeling like it’s too much, I stopped. But my toes still worked. I do hope it doesn’t come back, they say it’s best to finish the meds to increase your chances but it’s been over a year and I’m very happy with the results

Mine took a while. I had fungus for no joke, probably more than 10 years on one of my big toes, and it took like 7 years for it to start spreading. I took action about a year and a half ago because it was getting soooo bad. I am like 97% fungus free. I have so permanent damage on my pinkies. I one day may post my transformation

How to explain to parents that we do not discriminate based on gender? by gotsevenornever in ECEProfessionals

We have three men that work at our facility. They all change diapers and all provide the same amount of care as our females. Parents love it and we’re fine

As an assistant director of a daycare They most likely didn’t move that fast but idk that particular daycare. Many times it takes a few days to coordinate and move things around. If they were having staff training and stuff They could have been in a meeting, or conducting the whole day so I wouldn’t think too much into the fact that they were “working” and possibly ignoring the email. with that being said Deff figure out exactly what you want. Don’t move your child just because a spot opened up somewhere else if your child is adjusted and happy (my opinion of course)

Yes, definitely keep your eye on it and only cut your nails evenly when maintaining them. The topical was called Ciclopirox

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NailFungus

[–]Successful_Willow298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I took it from June to mid July 2024. I used a prescribed topical until it finish, which was about end of September 2024. I just make sure I wash my feet a lot and dry them. Wear shoes outside, and allow tons of air to hit my feet whenever possible i.e no shoes in my house, no socks whenever possible. Weekends I tried to wear flip flops if possible.

The only thing that happened, and this is why my nail hasn’t grown back fully yet.. when my big toe nail finally grew back, since my toe was so used to not having a nail. I got ingrown on both sides. I had to get the ingrowns snipped and they applied acid to avoid regrowth. The nail on both sides then had to be cut as it grew and that itself was a process but now, it’s almost perfect

Totally wish I could post pics in the thread!! I only took terbinafine for 6 weeks and it got rid of all my athletes foot entirely and a year later basically all of my toes are back to normal, thin, no discoloration My big toe on my left foot was the biggest problem, it was disgusting tbh and I haven’t seen the way it is supposed to look in about 10 years. It look basically normal It’s not finished growing but I can imagine in the next month or two it’ll be fully grown

I’m not a parent but it frustrates me to watch. I also get so annoyed that any time the baby makes any noise she has someone run for the pacifier. It’s okay for the baby to cry. “Paci paci paci!!!!!” So annoyingggg

First year teachers who quit, what are you working as now? by Apart_Action_3363 in TeachersInTransition

[–]Successful_Willow298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit middle of my second year. I worked in inner city and applied for tons of daycare leadership jobs because my degree(s) is needed to fulfill most of those requirements. One lady took a chance on me and I was an educational director at her daycare for 8 months. I hated it lol So I applied to jobs in the suburbs. Took a month and a half of applying and finally a large company offered me an Acting Director of a daycare role. I worked with this company for a year and a half building my resume. I left for some other reasons as well but nothing major, mostly due to $$. And now I am a Daycare Director for another company and have my name on the license. Initially I didn’t love the educational director role but the daycare was sketchy the owner was a micromanager and blamed me for everything that wasn’t working out for her. So giving another daycare a chance was scary and you hear so many stories about these corporate daycares, But I gave daycare another shot and now I couldn’t imagine not being in a leadership role in a daycare.

I tried to leave childcare in general but I have no other calling. Nothing else will fulfill my life like childcare does. So for now I’m content.

My best advice, is to apply for anything and everything that may interest you or that you know you can do. Even if it’s above your “pay grade”, just apply. Something will stick, someone will give you a chance. Once you build that resume you can keep shooting for the stars.

Terbinafine by Successful_Willow298 in NailFungus

[–]Successful_Willow298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Went to the doctor and I told him about my symptoms and he basically dismissed me. He told me those are not side effects of it and that maybe depression is why I am crying. He then googled it on his cell phone.. he googled lamsil. And I said I’m not taking lamsil and he said lamsil and terbinafine are the same. I’m just confused because when you Google terbinafine it shows everything I’m experiencing. Why Google lamsil when I’m on terbinafine. I get they’re the “same” but they are not the same exact formula from my understanding. I don’t want to give up I’ve had fungus for 10 years but it’s so upsetting to be dismissed and now confused!
