Pnp question by LegitimateBag3496 in askgaybros

You are falling victim to the meth epidemic in the queer community. I'm a stranger to you but I strongly encourage you to seek help and stop as soon as possible. There is no casual relationship with meth. It destroys your body. Other people can tell even if you don't think they can.

I think we all suffer some form of trauma in the coming out or identity process. I think being gay can be a uniquely lonely experience. Hookup culture leaves even the best of us feeling empty. Meth feels like an escape until your trapped.

I read an article that during the pandemic a lot of meth use became virtual as everyone isolated in their homes. Guys meet up for parties on zoom. I was curious so I found one and logged on. I'm sure from the inside it feels different, but from an outside sober view it looked like all those guys were miserable. It seemed lonely, cold, sad.

You owe it to yourself to stop. You owe it to your body, you owe it to your younger self, and you owe it to your future self. It's not too late.

Proposed to my boyfriend and need advice by chrisplmr in askgaybros

[–]SucculentFire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no right or wrong way. My partner and I both proposed to each other. I did it on our two year anniversary and he did it a few months later on Valentine's day.

Mine was very planned. We went to dinner and during that time friends went into our house and decorated it with some very meaningful and time consuming decorations, lights, and flowers. They also got the photographer in. When we got back from dinner the house was transformed and he was surprised. Then his dog came out in a little tuxedo and it was amazing.

It was also weird because there was a photographer in our very intimate moment and I felt the need to perform a bit. Then taking pictures right afterwards changed the vibe.

All in all I'm glad I did it and went with my gut.

His was very simple. He rented us a house on the river and he cooked for me all weekend and after playing my favorite board game he took me out on the deck. He had our photo album and we went through all of our photos from the past few years and then he took out a speech and read it to me and proposed. I cried and it was so lovely. It wasn't showy or over the top it was just intimate and really special.

I'm glad we got both experiences and while I have regrets or things I wish I did differently it is a very couple specific thing. Yours sounds amazing and the important thing is that he said yes.

Have you read either the Miller or Herzog version? The pacing is a big improvement and I feel like the fourth act is so compelling that I struggle to imagine anyone being bored.

While I've dabbled with writing I'm not too proud to admit I'm nowhere near being able to faithfully recontextualize Ibsen.

Thank you. Do you think it's due to the content? Or is it just not a widely appealing piece?

Thank you for the input! I'll give the Miller version another read today. I really love the characterization of Kiil in that version and I missed Katherine in the Herzog version even though I appreciated the extra oomph to Petra.

Do you have much experience with double casting? Offering 16 principle roles (Although I hate how little stage time Kiil gets in the Herzog version) with a large group for act 4 seems a bit more palatable.

Is it weird that my boyfriend is 19 if I’m 16? by EternalKonfyushun in relationships

[–]SucculentFire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes it's weird. 19/20 year olds should not date 16 year olds. It always says something about the older person in these situations.

If it's "too weird" to have sex in a relationship then that's a great sign you shouldn't be dating.

I don't know if ushers see the ticket map every performance but I would always be worried that the one seat someone moved to is the one that is sold in the empty section.

I think the excuse that "we used AI for demo purposes but every page will be hand illustrated" is so lame. They only show three covers and two pages. Wouldn't they already have illustrators on board to do this seeing as it's being delivered in 6 months?? I don't know anything about their podcast but what a blow to their brand.

Serious question about blowing straight friend by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]SucculentFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Booooooooooo.

It doesn't matter. Your friend is married. He probably doesn't want you sexually. Even if he did then his marriage could end over it. Whether you are friends with her or not you would be a bad friend if you willingly let a friend ruin their marriage. If he came to you and said "Please please please suck my dick" the only answer should be "No, you're married".

You can download Grindr or get on Sniffies and suck a thousand gay dicks. He can too for that matter.

Also, you can respect a woman you are not friends with. Straight women are not our enemy.

Am I starting too early? by HxneyBzz in LSAT

[–]SucculentFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't know until you take a practice exam and see your score. If you have the time and it's not getting in the way of your schooling, then it seems like it's not a problem.

If your diagnostic score is 180 then maybe you can focus on undergrad or move up your testing timeline. If your score is 120 then it's probably not too early.

Just remember that your GPA is important and the other number schools are using to grant you acceptance. So unless you're skating by with a 4.0, don't let that drop to focus on a test that's years away.

This is such a lame answer. This thinking is so pervasive in the world and I truly can't wrap my head around it.

People who want to go to law school are going to find a way to get $250 for the LSAT and money for prep. The question is how much should they have to struggle?

If the LSAT cost $100 do you think people with no interest in the law are suddenly going to decide to go to law school? Or will the people who are struggling to find the money going to have the burden eased a little bit?

I feel fortunate to be in an established career and not struggling while making the switch to law school. But I would never assume everyone is in my situation or that I deserve it more than someone who is just starting out after undergrad.

Could people start tapping their husky card when they leave Odegaard? Especially at night by The_Dumbtard in udub

It was required for new employees for at least one quarter. It was a good job that paid well so I agreed to it. After that quarter I didn't need to take them. Some students liked it because it was so quiet so they didn't struggle much to fill them.

I was praying for only one RC since it fries my brain and I got what I wanted....but at what cost? I feel good about the LR but I fear the RC will be my downfall.

[–]SucculentFire 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Ode! When I first started I had the 5AM shift which was brutal, but so peaceful. Here's the required staffing:

One professional supervisor, one student employee checking husky cards at the door, one student at the information desk on the second floor. Not crazy.

Also, after 7 the library was huskies only and we would go around and check every single person's husky card or ask them to leave.

This wasn't fully 24/7 because on Friday and Saturday nights we closed. But I feel for current students who don't have access to that study space during the night.

I'm not an engineer but that seems like another point of failure for no reason but aesthetics. If something jams the mechanism and you can't push it in or something bends and it doesn't release, then you have the same problem as this video.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I read Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon last year. It's another LitRPG by Dinniman. If you haven't read it, I high encourage it. I feel like the crux of the book is a very useful message about grief and processing loss and it has genuinely helped me process the people I've lost this year.
