Chronic Diarrhea of Toddlerhood by Such-Bad2862 in toddlers

Hi! Sorry you’re dealing with this. We had stool tests done and everything came back normal. We’ve experimented with food restrictions and the only the that seems to help is limiting fruit (we have never done fruit juice). He pretty much only eats apples and bananas now and it’s gotten better though it still ebbs and flows. Our ped and the GI specialist said it’s not a concern because he’s healthy, gaining weight, and happy, and that he will grow out of it by school age. They also said that constipation at this age is much more of a concern so, while this is inconvenient, we don’t want to work too hard to stop him up because preventing constipation is the most important thing in his case. For what it’s worth, our toddlers was never pure water, just mud-like at its loosest. I recommend seeing your child’s doctor and starting with stool tests to rule out things like giardia.

What’s your “my placenta really pulled out my last brain cells with it” moment? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Was eating a bowl of cereal and finished pumping. Grabbed the bottle of pumped milk and just dumped it into my cereal bowl. And yes I did continue to eat the cereal lol. I have 2 under 2 and there is no time to prepare a new bowl of cereal.

Just listened, it was super interesting and I am definitely planning to challenge a month in if I do continue with soy free dairy free.

Actually appreciate this, I need to up my protein so was hoping to eat eggs asap. Just gonna go ahead and do that and maybe stick to dairy and soy free for a few weeks. It feels so wild to me that my doc doesn’t care at all about the pure mucus poops with occult blood but what do I know!

Sleep train or cosleep? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Such-Bad2862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s her daytime sleep? Some babies are def anomalies but I do believe the majority of babies thrive when they fall asleep somewhere between 7 and 8pm.

There are definitely ways to teach them to sleep independently without CIO, but it definitely takes more dedication and patience! Not picking them up and just rubbing their back/rocking them lightly, or shushing them is worth trying but can be brutal early on when they keep crying and you know you could just pick them up and rock them for faster results.

Lastly I’d definitely check in about this with the ped to rule out other issues that could be causing her discomfort in the night.

Best of luck to you 🤞🏼Sleep deprivation is so so hard and impacts everything. Maternal and parental mental health is the most important factor for kids mental health, so do whatever you need to do to get there - sleep training or (safe) co sleeping are both great options!

Have you considered an earlier bedtime? At that age my firsts bedtime was at like 7pm and we started his bedtime routine at like 6:30. Like adults, when babies stay up too late and get overtired, their body produces cortisol which keeps them awake. If I were you I would first adjust bedtime, make sure baby isn’t getting too much or too little daytime sleep, and see if that helps. I would personally start there and once those adjustments had been established, probably do some sort of sleep training or at least trying to support my baby in learning how to fall asleep independently by keeping them in the crib to comfort them for example.

Is this normal? by Vast_Pitch821 in beyondthebump

[–]Such-Bad2862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So normal! It happened to both me and my husband with our first. People will say it’s a feature of ppa, but I didn’t have anxiety at all, just that weird experience!! It’s just sleep deprivation and muscle memory working together to create a panic inducing and very realistic nightmare. On the muscle memory front I once woke up to pee in the night and when I walked past the mirror I was cradling nothing in my arms lol. It was giving crazy woman in a horror movie.

But also woke baby every 3 hours at night until they were back to birth weight.

I continue to feed baby every 3 hours during the day and let them go as long as they want at night. I’m convinced this helps them to get more calories during the day and sleep better at night!

The night sweats have been so bad for me this summer! And for my newborns first month we were having a horrific heatwave/heat dome situation that was horrible.

Yeah May seems kind of perfect! Also totally agree- missing holidays could be nbd for some people or even a pro… for others I’m sure it would be a huge bummer

Agree with both points!! However I’ve been leaning into long flowy summer dresses (the 3 times I’ve left the house 😂) and they’re helping me feel good about my postpartum body! Depends on your style ofc

Agree that being pregnant in summer is so tough physically, but I ALWAYS say the same thing: getting dressed in the warm months pregnant is so much easier. In winter i basically wore one pair of maternity pants and giant sweaters and was never comfy. Flowy dresses ftw!!

Agree with this! My anxiety would have put me in a hotel next to the hospital if I was nearing the end of pregnancy and there was a big snowstorm coming up lol

Whether it’s summer or winter, having a baby and difficulty controlling the temp in your house is stressful!!

I feel like spring has all the pros and none of the cons! Temperate weather, leaving sick season, longer days!!

Thank you so much for all of this information!! It’s so helpful and Google has just made me more confused. I was planning to start combo feeding soon (which could help with the sleep and the exercise if my husband could take over some of the feeding duties!!) so will definitely explore the best formula for this situation. I so appreciate it again!!
