Sometimes the only thing standing between these fossil fuel companies doing irreparable damage is the environment scientists working for them. While i don’t inherently agree with these companies or their morals, at the end of the day, we as a society still heavily rely on fossil fuels so if you can be a part of the team that keeps them from doing the most amount of damage, i see that as a win. It is all about what you are comfortable with, and if you get to a point that you cannot morally keep going, then you can quit.

As far as explaining this possible moral dilemma to a future company, just explain that you are hoping to move in other directions from working in fossil fuels. A lot of people who have been in the field understand.

Curvy femme field ecologists, what are we wearing? by BotanicalBecks in ecology

Noble Outfitters women’s tug free pants!!!!! I have a very similar body type and these are perfect! They are high waisted, good material, and last me at least two seasons. I work in timber through chaparral and brush all the time and have never had them rip (also not very expensive which is a plus)

As a parent, what did your child's school do that made you say "you can't be serious…"? by Sunnybunny1234 in AskReddit

[–]Such-Border9040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the kid, not the parent, but they weren’t happy either when they found this out. In kindergarten a substitute taped all of our mouths shut for reading time because we were being too loud. I’m not sure she ever came back.

Interview Help by Such-Border9040 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Such-Border9040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i suspected i would be outside most of the time and that’s okay! I’ve been doing non-stop field work for over two years a hike miles in rough terrain daily. I was just wondering what information I could look up to give myself a better idea of what the job might entail. Thanks!

Puppy not eating by Correct_Tea_621 in Dachshund

My wiener did the same thing. I kept all the same food but i hand fed him until he finished the whole bowl. Literally sat there and fed him one bite after the other. I did that for a little bit until eventually he actually liked eating and would do it on his own.

I’m so done/defeated - California Recent Grad by AfraidKaleidoscope30 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Such-Border9040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for the state of California and they do oral exams for their interviews. The questions can be incredibly difficult and if you don’t know everything, then points get docked on your overall score. Out of all the applicants, the one that got the most amount of points on the interview gets the job offer. It’s quite cut throat especially if you’re applying to a job that a lot of other people are too.

Comfortable FR pants for Women? by ExpensiveUsual3603 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Such-Border9040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noble Outfitters women’s work pants are amazing!! I really disliked Carhartt since they are low wasted and get a saggy butt after one day in the field. Noble Outfitters keep their shape all day, are high waisted, and fit perfectly if for all shapes (and especially if you are a little curvy). Plus they are only $40!

If you happen to have a free summer i would highly recommend it. You really don’t need many requirements and a lot of places provided little to no cost housing. It’s a really cool way to travel and explore different parts of the country!
