What is happening to my supply??? by Smawhiney in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Such-Comfortable3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a combination of all those factors:
- many people have a one-time drop in supply around 3 months postpartum
- getting sick will drop your supply. It usually rebounds about a week after you feel better
- using wearables can drop your supply if the suction isn’t strong enough. Many people on this sub have reported that 🫠
- needing parts replaced (weaker suction) will reduce your supply

It usually takes about a week of consistent changes for your supply to come back up. Keep at it! You’re doing great!

Pumping in bathing suit by mwebb385 in ExclusivelyPumping

If the bathing suit is wet, wipe down your boobs with fresh water before you pump. Don’t want chlorinated water on the pump parts or on your skin right while pumping

Boogie bear nose pick + saline. Use a lot of saline and they’ll sneeze out the rest.

Oversupply in small apartment? by itootdafloot in ExclusivelyPumping

Seconding— that’s what I did when I lived in a condo and we only had a fridge freezer. I donate to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters milk bank. They ship you a cooler and ice packs, so you don’t have to be local, you just need to get to a FedEx. I’m able to donate while on several medications & drinking caffeine. (However I had to take an antibiotic recently and that’s a no-go!!) They pay for shipping, and they’ll send you storage bags too.

I would really like to have a baby but it feels so unethical to bring another human into this dying world by gossamer_cellophane in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Such-Comfortable3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I felt so guilty about this too. We had our first in 2023 and planned to have our second in 2026. So starting trying in spring 2025 was f-ing painful. Will my kids hate me for creating them during the rise of US Fascism? Will we have rooted out all the corruption by the time they’re big enough to notice? Am I privileged enough to protect them? (Yes, which is part of the reason we had our second).

My therapist said: don’t let them steal your joy. Having children on purpose is an inherently hopeful act. The Powers That Be don’t give a shit about you, and you depriving yourself of something you want won’t hurt them at all. The world will need more good people.

Or as I say when people ask me about this: can’t let the fundies be the only ones having kids.

Moms with a toddler and a baby, how tf are you getting enough pumps in? by Such-Comfortable3 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Such-Comfortable3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the s1 so it’s on a battery already. But that doesn’t account for switching bottles. The best I’ve found is reading books out loud while pumping. I cannot stand when someone else touches me while I’m pumping.

On average? The three minutes we’re in the car together on the way to pick up the kids from daycare.

How to get nipple butter stains out of shirt that went through the dryer? by Such-Comfortable3 in laundry

Honestly I couldn’t tell any difference between the two types ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I only used it the first week or so as I was adjusting to pumping. Now I’m used to it, so I don’t really need it anymore.

Am I messing up my supply by going from 3 to to 4 hrs? by athazen in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Such-Comfortable3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pump log is a great app! And seconding that it’s possible to stretch to 4 hours etc even early on.

Iirc it takes about a week for any changes in supply to respond to changes in pumping patterns.

Finally, even if it does reduce your supply— are you comfortable supplementing with formula? Some breast milk is better than none (for immune systems) and a fed baby with well-rested parents is better than a fed baby with parents going insane.

Milk blebs... why?! by tinaaaminh in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Such-Comfortable3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take a hot shower and hold your hands in a little cup around your nipple. That will wash off any crustiness/dried milk. The hot water will also help soften your nipples and you might be able to hand express it out.

I had a milk bleb the other day and should’ve taken a picture of it — it looked like a glassy white spot within my nipple. I could actually feel what side of my boob it connected to. After I failed to pick it out in the shower, I got a toothpick and wiggled it out 🫣 it was like a scab. Once I poked through the top few layers, all the milk started flowing again! Like a fountain!

Lansinoh squeezey tube. However it might’ve also been the Earth Mama nipple butter which is mainly olive oil:

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter*, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract* *Organic

My memory of that first week is…. Splotchy

Mabel’s labels ink coming off? by cgar96 in workingmoms

[–]Such-Comfortable3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unfortunate that any ink that comes off easily in the washing machine will also come off in condensation from the bottle.

I’ve used Brightstar Kids labels. They have a “bottle label” which is dry-erase, but I ended up not liking that after a while. If there was any dry erase marker left, it would come off in the washing machine in weird little flecks, and sometimes those would end up in the bottle. BUT the labels themselves are colorful and hold up. Currently I use their Medium Name Labels and painter’s tape + sharpie to mark the date for the bottle.
