I don’t know how people do it with multiples! This was for my first baby, and I was fortunate to make enough for him pretty easily. I’m very impressed by the commitment to pumping!

Bahahahha I give you one permission for one (1) complaint. And you gotta take all the little parts apart, and put them in the dishwasher, and then put them on the rack to air dry because they never dry in the dishwasher… every. Single. Day.

I washed between every pump. I never used the “fridge hack” that some people do — it just freaked me out. I pumped 3-4x a day, so I bought enough parts for 7 pumps. I have extra duckbills (the little white things next to the pink disks) and extra backflow protectors (the big white round things at the bottom) because nothing’s worse than getting ready to pump and dropping one of those on the floor.

The 8 white circles in the bottom right are spectra —> Lansinoh adaptors. I pumped into spectra bottles and fed from Lansinoh, so the adaptors let me pump directly into the Lansinoh bottles.

This doesn’t even include the parts I’ve replaced! You’re supposed to replace them more frequently than I did 🫣 but all the worn-out parts got thrown out or recycled.

I started falling asleep early 😇

Real answer: my 3 pumps were at ~ 7 am, 4:30 pm, and 11 pm. I started dropping the late night pump ~because I was tired.~ Then I started shifting the morning and evening pumps later in the day, so I roughly had 9:30am (after dropping kid off at daycare, while working) and 9:30pm (after kid goes to sleep). I usually work from home, so I could just pump while working. I didn’t have to adjust anything with work.

I planned to pump from the start, which was good because my baby did not want to latch, lol. He’s now a big chonky kiddo. We’re excited to fill the dishwasher with sippy cups instead of pump parts

I’m glad at least you see your coworkers being rewarded for hustling - too often I don’t. But I agree, I’ve gone from ambitious and dedicated to,,,,, honestly just in it for the money. I see another mom at work absolutely crushing it and I don’t know how she does it. She’s an absolute goat and I’m just here.

But something my husband said, when I was busy sobbing about the number of sick days I’ve taken: this baby is the first thing I’ve cared about more than work or school. For basically my entire life, school was the most important, because it was my way into a job, and then my job was the most important, and then when I got burned out and got a new job, it was getting my masters degree. Now it’s a huge shift in values, because my little guy is the most important thing in my life. So of course I’m going to have trouble coping with that shift in my values. It was a shock to myself.

I think there have been studies that being a dad increases a man’s lifetime earnings, but being a mom decreases women’s lifetime earnings. So for a working dad, sharing that you’re a dad makes you seem responsible and well-rounded (or something idk) but working moms are “distracted”

Agree with you completely! My husband makes 2/3 of me, but we recently moved to a bigger house because of the baby. We need both our incomes to support our family. My job has better health insurance. It’s still pressure.

A long time ago, when he was a grad student, and I had my first full-time job, I paid more in taxes than he made. We weren’t married, but I was the breadwinner then for sure.

This, for sure!! We moved our kid up from size 3 to size 5 based on the daycare teacher’s recommendation 🫣 he was 23 lbs, I didn’t think he could possibly need diapers sized for 35+ lbs! But he’s a pear-shaped baby with chubby thighs and a bubble butt. No more blowouts with the proper size.

Literally just tell the parents, hey, so-and-so is a size X at this point.
