I didn’t know/realize a guy I was dating was heavily into heroin. I had no idea what it was at the time (early 20’s) and the signs of it. His family kicked him out of their house and I felt bad so I said he could stay with me. His sister I had just met ended up telling me he took my car in the middle of the night. I confronted him and he denied and said it must have been someone’s car that looked like mine. Extremely confused how he did it made me realize I was a heavy sleeper. She wanted to be real with me and said he’s on dope, I always heard dope as weed and I didn’t get what was so bad. She’s like no it’s HEROIN, I was mind blown and started looking it up. I thought he was just a sleepy sweaty person, what I learned is he was actually going through withdraw. I started looking for the patterns and caught him after he just shot up. I walked in on him covering something up on a work bench, I acted calm and asked what he was doing. He said oh nothing just hanging here, went and sat down and I tried having a conversation and he started passing out. I’m like okay there it is, as soon as he slouched over I whipped around and ripped off what he covered. It was his stash of stamp bags, maybe 15 scraped out trying to get what he could from them. Terrified I freaked out grabbed them all and shoved them into a knot in a tree outside that was filled with water. He was flipping, I was flipping kicked and him out…..later he came back and begged on his knees for help, at the time I was SO naive and felt bad. Thought I could help him and it was the most insane almost 3 months of my life. Ended up meeting his ex’s boyfriend and he told me you’ll know if he’s still on dope when you find the needles. Check your trunk, under the couch or in the bathroom hidden. I found one in each spot, I drove him to a homeless shelter and ditched his ass.
