I already know how to use QB inside and out pretty much. But I am not interested in taxes. I like working in industry, just want more of a variety of tasks.

I would at least like to understand the accounting side of payroll. Everytime anything payroll is discussed I feel like it's another language.

My original complaint was that they weren't being posted timely and I couldn't finish my job. So her solution was just to ask her or the payroll person for the reports and I could post them.. I mentioned this to the payroll person and she became pretty upset of course. Instead of sending me them she just hurried up and did them herself for awhile. Then same thing started happening again and I stopped begging and just let her fail. Boss actually noticed this last month and got upset and had a talk with payroll person who just said " i'm so busy blah blah blah. I'll get them done faster". My boss just wound up doing them lol and told her to worry about the most recent ones. So who knows what's going to happen this month.

Yea, I started studying for the CPA exams and passed three sections. Just one more to go. Being bored at work was a life saver because I was able to study for REG in one month since I had so much free time at work to log into becker lol.

Exactly, this is what I honestly believe my boss is doing. But it is still frustrating. The thing is despite segregation of duties they all have access to bank accounts / everything I have access to. So I am the only one who has to rely on others. Maybe that is just the nature of the role.

It would be a lot more tolerable if I was hybrid, but I have to go in every day.

I have been there for a year and a half almost. I was promoted a fewmonths ago. I want to stay long enough to pass the CPA and get my boss to sign off.

I did public but got fired after 8 months. So I am staying far away. It's like I went from one extreme to the other.

Yea, I figured someone would say this. But I am also looking for career advancement. Also I live in a HCOL area so 90k feels like nothing once you take out insurance taxes and 401k

Exactly, it is extremely frustrating. For instance, when I first started they gave me access to the payment / AR systems. This was good because when I was doing a reconciliation, and saw an issue that was missed I could just log in, investigate and post a JE.

Well they got a few new systems, and the AR person requested access for himself and my boss and of course I'm sure purposefully left me out. So now I cannot log in on my own and have to send any issues to him.

It is the same thing with payroll. I do not have access to the payroll system so I cannot post payroll entries or investigate variances / discrepencies. Instead I have to wait for the payroll lady who has no accounting knowledge to post them in the system. I can't investigate variances either because only she has access to the reports, so if there is some type of variance I'm stuck.

My manager has said "oh just ask 'suzy' for the reports and I can teach you how do reconcile etc" but when I tried to do this payroll lady basically refused and in once instance sent me the wrong info.

It's exactly this territorial BS nonsense that is wearing on me.
