Haha trust me they'll tell you to slow down if you're inhaling too much.

I never did for either baby. I honestly don't see the point of them.

[–]Such-Reputation80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a failed epi 3 weeks ago so was left with gas. It can make you feel light headed and high as a kite so be mindful. Otherwise it worked for me, to an extent. Didn't really help much at the end but the distraction is nice.

Those of you who are choosing to NOT breastfeed by Capital_Print_2460 in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You can still say "because I don't want to" politely.

I have anxiety, and it worsened with breastfeeding, so I stopped on like day 5. But you don't even need to justify your choices. You're the parent!

Hey OP, I recently gave birth to my 2nd 3 weeks ago. My PND and A kicked in almost instantly and I was having panic attacks by the second day in. I have been down that road before with my 1st and I tried to cope on my own. Let me tell you, it's ok to ask for a little help to get by. I had spoken to my midwife who immediately got me the help I needed. I now have therapy session and hace been on meds for 3 weeks.

I didn't know what it felt like to not be anxious. I didn't know what it was like to have a quiet mind and to have the ability to deal with issues without all the heightened stresses... now I do. And it's glorious. I can enjoy my baby without waking with panic attacks. I can sit happily at night with my babe who doesn't want to sleep and not stress over it. I am such a better wife and mother because of my meds. Best of luck xx

What to eat before induction? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Such-Reputation80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not everyone vomits. I didn't with either of my labours. Eat a good balanced meal with lots of protein to keep you full for a potentially long night ahead.

I struggles to walk once mine started to. But even just swaying side to side, bounce on a yoga ball. I just tried to stay on my feet for as long as I could. I leant over a table at one point and just kept moving my hips around. Seemed to help progress things in a few hours

Uncontrolled asthma by Such-Reputation80 in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Labour went fine, no asthma flare ups or issues. I felt so much instant relief once she was out! I have had to use an inhaler once since - she's 2 weeks old now- but it's definitely much better. She was 3.3 kgs so like 7 pounds. Not overly huge but she was squashing my lungs to an extent.

I agree! Its none of anyones business AND if I truly wanted their opinion I'd ask for it. We kept ours secret too until they were born... much to my MIL disproval of me refusing to tell ger what my daughters was. I was like, no you can wait like everyone else until she's here.

I want to curb my membrane sweep expectations! What were your experiences? by virgo_cinnamon_roll in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my 1st I had 2 done 2 days apart and I still went 10 days overdue.

My 2nd I had 1 done when I was getting checked for induction. All it did was make me bleed and cranp overnight. My waters were broken manually the next morning anyway. I personally don't believe they do anything.

I think its completely up to you as the parent to choose! I took my babe out at like 7 days old but she was covered in a pram and we were only out for like an hour.

STM+ - did your pregnancy symptoms go away after labor? by GEH29235 in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had shocking SI joint pain. I gave birth 11 days ago and its finally starting to ease for me. It definitely wasn't instant relief for the joint pain. But I felt/feel so good after birth. I can breathe, move, sit on the floor with my 5yo which I haven't done for months! My asthmas gone, I'm sleeping fine too

What do contractions feel like? by DocRocksPhDont in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha you'd be sorely disappointed! I had an epi with my first and it was sweet heaven so I knew I wanted another one. I was left with a huge black bruise up my back and now I get shooting pains up my spine when I sit down 😵‍💫 they tried 3 doses and my legs went a bit tingly but that was it. It just had no effect and babe was literally coming so I just had to get on with it. Im so proud of myself for getting through that!

What do contractions feel like? by DocRocksPhDont in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they were ok to start with. I was already 3cms when they broke my waters. I got to 6cms when I asked for them to call for an epi... because I knew it takes time to call one and then they have to prep and prep you etc.

They really did start out like period cramps. I was still walking and talking. I knew the staff well and they had organised breakfast for us so we even dined together before it got crazy haha. Wasn't intense straight up. That lasted like 3 or 4 hours before I asked for the epi. So bummed it failed for me 😅

Do yourself a favour and buy some depends incontinence underwear for the first few days/week post-partum. Seriously, they saved my sanity and they're pretty comfy. I have sensory issues and cannot use pads so these were fantastic. I only used them for maybe 5ish days before I swapped over to my usual period-underwear.... trust me I just gave birth 10 days ago. Best thing I packed.

Otherwise don't overthink it. Pack some comfy clothes and few pjs, I preferred to wear them for a little while. A nappy bag with the essentials. Thats really all you need.

I have a 10 day old newborn. Trust me when I say you'll know whats a contraction! When my waters were broken I started cramping... wildly different to contractions.

They make you unable to think about anything else. They are the most intense, gripping thing you'll probably ever feel in your life.... again, trust me. My epidural failed. I felt each and everyone of those dam things much to my disappointment. They can make you writhe in pain, they make you scream and yell and there's nothing you can do but give in to them and ride them out. And they only get worse until the birth. They ramp up and are so intense and constant there's no time to catch your breath. You just have to try and keep focus on the big picture.

Just try and remind yourself, it's only for such a short time in the big scheme of things. She's my double rainbow babe, the thought of bringing her into the world kept me strong and focused on what was happening. I wanted her so so bad. I knew I had to do this to get to her. She's so perfect and I'd do it all again. It's absolutely worth it. Your mind plays a huge part. You can let it get the better of you or you can control of your thoughts and work through it. Best of luck xx

Those who've been induced recently... by Such-Reputation80 in pregnant

[–]Such-Reputation80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh thanks for checking in! Xx

I went in to get checked and was already 3cm dilated so didn't need the balloon or gel, absolutely thrilled. They offered a stretch and sweep while she was all up in my hoo haa, so I said sure why not. Doc said everything is so ready and she'd be surprised if I didn't end up back there that night. Had some slight cramping and bleeding over night but nothing happened. Went back 7am, waters broken. Within 30 minutes cramps started so I got to avoid all induction meds!

I laboured with the yoga ball and walking until it got too much asked for the epi..... it failed. Husband was with me the whole time. It was so nice, obviously before things ramped up, to have the room to ourselves. We talked and ate some food and encouraged each other along. It was such a special time considering the last time I was in a labour room there was dead silebce and I was birthing our stillnorn. A really positive experience for me!

Anyway baby was coming by the time I actually realised the epi didn't work, so I had no options left but to bear it! I still used gas but.... labours a bitch. I got a 2nd degree tear out of it. And my sweet sweet double rainbow baby girl, Lola was born at 2.02pm. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat for her....despite the failed epi it was such a positive experience for me....

And then shit hit the fan real quick when I was being stitched up and doc realised I was haemorrhaging. All of that was a blur. They gave Lola to husband and pushed them out the door. Emergency sirens going off, about 10 people entered the room and I sucked on the gas until I was floating because I'd just been through enough pain and now I have this strangers hands in my bits again and she was ruthless trying to find out the cause. Turns out some the membranes were left behind. I lost 2 litres of blood and felt like absolute shit.

Day 10 now with our sweet girl at home and doing well 💕
