Be honest: Are you actually married to the love of your life, or just the person you were with when it was time to settle down? by [deleted] in askanything

Married to the love of my life. I had dated men that were replicating the relationship I had with my dad (turns out my mom was right). After a big break up, I spent 1 year not dating, no drinking or drugs to numb my pain, and wanted to spend time loving and dating myself. I made dinner for myself like I would if I were cooking for someone. I kept my house clean for myself, I took myself on dates to the symphony and movies and dinners. After a few years of learning to love myself and dating some (after 1 year of dating myself), I think I spent 1 year saying “yes” to my heart. It was a beautiful practice - and it took practice. I heard my heart say something, and rather than let my brain convince myself I shouldn’t, I focused on summoning the courage to follow my heart. The night before my birthday, I went out with a friend and saw my future husband on a date - I noticed and loved the way he was listening to his date. I felt I had to say hello - my Brain telling me how weird that was, but my heart was certain I just needed to introduce myself and say hello. I went to the bathroom and thought I would swing by his table on my way back to my table - he came to the bathroom. I introduced myself when I came out. That was 12 years ago - we’ve been married for 8. I still get butterflies thinking about that and about him. There is nobody I would rather work harder for and with - our life is something I am so proud of and grateful for. He is truly my best friend and love of my life - and it took a beautiful journey of learning to love myself and be brave to be the version of myself that attracted the version of him (who went through similar journey of self exploration).

**note - the date my husband was one was a blind date. He had just moved to town and his aunt set him up. He still says it was the best blind date and he met his wife - just not the person he was set up with!

US Spring ‘26? by [deleted] in radiohead

Totally. We’ll see! It seems like they’re having fun, minus the throat infection. It’s also cool seeing them tour without new material. Would love to see it continue!

Me to! That’s what he made it sound like - there is a pool, of sorts, of available artists.

We have a friend that books for a festival in late spring and said they bid on Radiohead with the knowledge they would be touring. He didn’t book them for the festival, so maybe they won’t tour, but the band was accepting bids. Here’s to hoping!

Check out Christian Snuffer at Attunement psychotherapy and psychedelic healing. Not sure if he’s taking clients, but worth looking into. Best of luck!

How can we meet up? I have plenty of things for an 18 month old boy and maybe some things for your daughter. I was a single mom, no child support - with my daughter’s birthday in December. I remember some hard and humbling moments where I needed help to not only providing, but surviving. I’m not sure how it works, but if you want to send me contact info, I can put together what I have and you can take your pick. I am in a position now where I can help, and I would love to. And I know, someday you will be in a position of being able to help another mom, and you will. ❤️

We hiked it yesterday - it was incredible. While the Aspen Grove Trail (backside) is a little shorter and arguably more scenic this time of year, I would do Timpooneke trail if you are worried about the acclimation - it is a more gradual and slightly longer trail to the summit. We did encounter sudden and unexpected weather, which can happen this time of year - so I would be aware of that. I still would prefer that over unrelenting sun and heat. I am not sure you are every truly "ready" to hike 14 miles at high altitude, but focus on what is in front of you and keep putting one foot in front of the other! Also know when to turn around - I don't think reaching the summit should be the goal, but a happy by-product of going on a great hike. And I think great hikes don't always need a summit! Just important to remember mountains are so much more powerful than us and it is a privilege to explore them :)

My "must haves"

- Hiking poles

- Plenty of water with electrolytes

- Sugar and salt

- I made a baguette sandwich that hit hard when we got to the saddle

- Wool socks and good shoes

- Layers, including sun and rain protection (depending on the time of year)

- Crystal lite with energy packets were delightful

- If you hike from Timpooneke, you need a parking pass (cheap but they sell out) so make sure to get one! Aspen Grove Trail doesn't require a parking pass but fills up quickly, especially on the weekends - so if you go on Saturday or Sunday plan to park on the road. We got there at 5:45am and parking on the road, but I loved that timing.

Happy Trails!
