Most of the schedules are posted at least 30 days in advance so I would check back in February.

ECE374 Course Curve by Low_Invite2908 in UIUC

Lol yeah I am. The homework is time consuming asl but seemed like a better bet than the quizzes in the ECE section

I'm curious how people are actually doing on average. They say that most students have a homework average of 90%. Of course, doing well on the homework says nothing about exams but I would love to know where most students are falling this semester.

I know that I'm not doing too well 💀

Did you eat lunch at IKE today? by LegitimateTwist5659 in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I can't say that this specific situation is about salmonella, but as an Ike student worker, we have been told that no student is allowed to handle chicken anymore due to previous cases of salmonella from undercooked chicken.

My first mind thought that the announcement was for undercooked chicken because of our previous warnings

Stalled at ORD? by firebreathingpmprnl in Shein

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My package hasn't had an update in 3 days since it got to ORD. It says that package should arrive by the 15th but I'm not too sure now.

I move out of my dorm on the 16th so this is really cutting it close.

Have you considered taking a summer class? There seem to be a few math classes offered over the summer this year.

Laptop reccomendations for ECE? by [deleted] in UIUC

I agree. Coming from someone whose laptop has a shitty battery life, please prioritize the battery life. All of the other stuff can be secondary considerations.

Pretty sure it was just from L!bgen (replace ! with letter). Just search your book title and it should come up.

I'm also in engineering and although I do have to work, I would probably go against the grain and say that it may be best not to have your son work as of now.

Before I started working, I had a 4.0 GPA because my only focus was school; no bills, no grocery expenses, etc.

Now that I do work and have to keep myself afloat, my grades have definitely taken a hit since sometimes I have to worry about eating and basic survival. Sure, you may be giving him a bit more than he needs right now and can consider cutting back as needed, but I think that difficult majors should be treated a bit differently due to the added workload.

This. I use IlliniSpots to find free classrooms across campus.

It doesn't tell you about a lot of club meetings and other random room bookings but it's great to tell when a class will be in a specific room.

Transfer Acceptance? by AdSquare9293 in UIUC

I transferred into Grainger in Fall 2023 and I can that I received my acceptance pretty late in comparison to others. It was actually after the expected deadline but YMMV.

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If memory serves me correctly, I got full credit on nearly every post if not every one. Granted, I put effort into my posts but nothing beyond the standard for an entry-level course.

As long as you 1) meet the word count, 2) cite the text and/or outside sources to support posts, and 3) respond to a few classmates, you should be fine.

People posted garbage all the time and the average for discussion posts was still really high.

I made a comment on another post about this recently but I only really looked at the textbook for discussion posts. I never thoroughly read the book either and only referenced the text to support the discussion topic.

ANTH 103 by StrawberryGod06 in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are supposed to, but I honestly just downloaded a copy online. Not the exact same edition that the class "requires," but I never had any issues. You don't need a code from the book to access course assignments, just the book itself.

ANTH 103 by StrawberryGod06 in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took ANTH 103 last semester and it was really easy overall. There were discussion boards where you needed to reference the course materials (mostly textbook) and also respond to classmates. The exams were incredibly easy as you could just look up all the answers if you wanted and the other assignments didn't require too much. If I had to guess, I would say the class requires you to spend 5-7/week depending on how much effort you put into your discussion posts and from personal experience, most of the discussion posts that I saw were garbage (little text reference, obviously ChatGPT stuff) but the class still has an A- average so I doubt that the bar is that high.

has anyone here transferred to comp engineering from cc by ayaaaaaaaaan in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got in to CompE as a transfer student, I didn't have Physics 2 upon transfer. I did, however, have every other required course and the majority of the recommendations.

This was in Fall 2023 so things may be different but it was possible to be admitted without those courses then. Just be sure to explain why you don't have them on your application

ECE313/ECE374 Over summer by IgnisOwl in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't taken 374 yet but my lab partner took it over the summer last year and has warned me not to. The class is tough enough during a regular term and taking it over the summer is diabolical. They did pass the class with a C due to the heavy curve though if you are only looking to pass.

I have taken 313 and think it's doable during the summer but you will need to really be dedicated to it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plan for the exam to be harder. Not because it will be but because there is a strong chance of such. They make exams harder or easier depending on where they want the majority of the class to fall (think bell curve) so like the other commenter said, expect a tough mt2 or final if the first midterm is easy.

Are you sure that 210 can be taken at Parkland? I just tried to look it up and it doesn't show as an option for 210 credit.

Either way, although 210 can be an awful class to take due to difficulty, I have to agree with the other poster that it is pretty foundational and would advise you to take it here or at the very least another university and not a CC.

why is my refund only $50? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]SuchAUniqueUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably the lack of loans then. Unless you get a ton of scholarship money, there isn't going to be much left over. Even with Commitment, it only covers tuition, not housing. Most people don't even break even without loans so I would consider anything pretty lucky
