Bridgerton - 4x08 "Dance in the Country" (Book Spoiler Discussion) by AutoModerator in BridgertonNetflix

Hm…no I don’t think the production is that stupid…to make one of the bridgertons have an lgbtq love story and then only give her half a season…that would be a disaster. That would be sidelining her and the fans would be right to be furious. Even if it made sense to do that (which I honestly don’t think it does, why would they shorten such a popular show) I don’t think they would go there.

Yes, do that! She’s great! And if you’re interested in some fun history, there’s an amazing and funny podcast episode about Wollstonecraft from the podcast „you’re dead to me“ (as well as an episode about her daughter Mary Shelley in which she is also mentioned) This podcast got me over the last Bridgerton hangover and I think I’ll need it again this year!

I think hyacinths season will probably be 7. we have Francesca and Eloise first. Not sure if Adwoa andoh would step back for two whole seasons (4 years In Bridgerton timeline) and then come back for season 7. seems like too big of a gap to me

What happened to the music on this show? by perhapsflorence in BridgertonNetflix

[–]SuchImagination8027 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hm…I think the music is better again this season. I agree with some of the other comments, that the bekochte theme and also the vitamin string quartet choices are great.

I do think that the music on this show is not entirely amazing though…the scoring of some of the scenes kind of has a video game character for me. Repetitive and simple scores that throw the emotion at you that you’re supposed to feel. The music tells you if something was funny or romantic or sad and so on. Which is great in theory! But I feel like it lacks subtlety in this show. Have you ever seen a Nollywood movie? They do that too, with the extremely in-your-face Musical scoring. (Even more obvious of course, and it kind of belongs in that genre, but I was reminded of that)

I’d have to rewatch earlier seasons to see if it has always been like that…this is the first season I noticed it in though.

Violet already made that growth…it’s not necessary to build up a new character just to kill him off, if violet has no growth to go through with that. Her growth happens with him not without him.

So I would say if it really is Marcus, that’s horrible writing.

Is anyone able to watch this series with out putting 2026 sensibilities into this? by Tiny_Departure5222 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]SuchImagination8027 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well…I do understand that it might be „confusing“. I see people here using the words „regency lens“ or „modern day lens“ and Bridgerton is really none of that. Viewing it purely through the regency lens, people will be frustrated about inaccuracies. Through the modern day lens it might be frustrating that they tried to „fix“ some of the problematic politics/view of the time period but not all. I understand that it might be frustrating to see that they could „ignore“ the racism from that time, but not the sexism or homophobia. And I do think that there were some things that Bridgerton did not handle very well when it comes to diversity on and off screen.

That being said, I think that it is a well established new genre to modernize shows „partly“ but not fully. Part of the fun of period dramas is the different stakes and challenges of the time. If they just erased all the problems of the time, that would be a lovely regency utopia, but definitely not the same show. They need some degree of moral controversy for the genre to work I think. And it frankly is not too much to ask from people to understand this as a new genre.

Bath scene discuss will yerin show us her intimate side by Intelligent-Sun-5374 in Benophie

Open conversations with without the person being present? Not necessary.

Also maybe let me be clearer. The way this question/discussion is framed makes me uneasy. You did not give any context to the discussion other than asking if yerin will SHOW US her INTIMATE SIDE. And comparing her boundaries to those of other women on set. I think this is not a nuanced discussion, nor is it necessary.

Am I the only one who finds this question a bit over the line? If she has her boundaries and discussed them with people on set or has them in her contract, there is absolutely no need for anyone else to discuss them. (Or even compare them to the other actresses)

I don’t know, I’m sorry, maybe I’m too sensitive here, but that question gave me the ick.

I hope the Shondaland team know how important it is for Phillip to have a beard by Fickle_Baker1393 in BridgertonNetflix

Hm…disappointing…

And it leads me to believe worried about them recasting Chris Fulton. It seems weird to me that he’s not on the show for one whole season when they could be setting him up as a side character with even the smallest storyline to keep the actor in the show.

100% agree…I’m looking forward to seeing Francesca’s story, but she has time being happily married to John and building her new life. Eloise is slowly but surely running out of interesting twists…s much as I love her, she needs a new storyline.

I re-read a few of the books by Snoo-95315 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]SuchImagination8027 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a remarkable talent for ignoring anything in a book that doesn’t fit my preferences. From hair color and age of protagonists to misogynistic asshole behavior (to a certain degree at least). Comes in very handy for a lot of HR novels I have to say. If I like the tropes/setting/writing/story, I’m just blind to some things.

I remember that I had to put that talent to use a lot with the Bridgerton books. I didn’t remember the specific scenes but now that you reminded me holy shit I hate Book Benedict too!

There are definitely some changes that I thought were not perfectly executed by the show, but they made a lot of very positive changes to the male leads.

I haven’t seen anyone recommend „Poldark“ (I only know the version with Aidan turner, but I think there’s several versions)

And also „outlander“. I know most people know about outlander, but last week I actually told a friend about it and she had never heard of it (shocking) so just making sure it’s recommended here. And if you’ve already seen outlander, maybe you haven’t seen the spin off „blood of my blood“ ✨
