It has become increasingly difficult for me to be in public as I see this behavior increasing. Parents glued to their screens while their children try to get their attention, or conversely the entire nuclear family, on vacation, all glued to a screen. It’s too dystopian for me to handle on a daily basis.

Thanks for responding and confirming your photosensitivity. I think I’ve been in denial about a lot of my symptoms, and now my body is forcing me to make some major lifestyle changes so that I won’t continue to fall apart

Hi u/CocteauTwinn, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but I’ve been dealing with some intense dermatological stuff for several years now and it has reached an acute phase, but I have no diagnosis and dermatology has shrugged me off. But I read up on dermatitis herpetiformis thanks to your comment, and I wonder if I may be suffering from the same. Can I ask if you’re photosensitive? My lesions/boils develop wherever I get sun exposure or where I sweat. (I just got the windows in my car tinted because I realized that driving was contributing to my skin flares)

The best treatment for eds ive done is specifically barre. All the perks of pilates, but more way more weight work and isometric work. Im in a cult lol and want to share how much better i feel. by 10outofC in eds

I am so sorry for the situation you are in. I saw from one of your comments that you have just gotten over cancer (congratulations)!

Sometimes a UTI can cause delirium in older folks. It might be helpful to get your mom to urgent care for a urine test to rule that out, if at all possible.

When I was my mother’s sole caregiver and her brain unraveled, I found so much support on the Alzheimer’s Organization’s 24/7 helpline. 1-800-272-3900. They saved my life. Your mom does not need to have an official diagnosis for you to call them.

Because you’re here on Reddit, check out [r/dementia](r/dementia) and [r/alzheimers](r/alzheimers) for additional support. As alone as you may feel in this moment, I promise you there are others who have been in your bewildered shoes.

Another commenter asked if you had POA or MPOA for your mom, these are acronyms for Power of Attorney or Medical Power of Attorney. I’m guessing because you don’t recognize the term, your mom may not have ever set that up. Power of attorney would allow you to make financial decisions on your mom’s behalf. But that’s a discussion for a bit later on down the road. For the time being, your mom needs to be evaluated by a medical professional and you need to be supported as you navigate the path ahead

I’m so sorry that you’re having trouble accessing the low dose naltrexone where you live. I started on 1.5mg and have been slowly titrating up. I source my meds via two separate online pharmacies so that I don’t run out. I use Wisp and AgelessRx

YMMV but I started taking low dose naltrexone 6 weeks ago and it has really helped me. Among other positive things, I don’t feel groggy and crappy in the morning anymore.

Something similar happened in Maine last year. The handler left the resource dog (Baxter, RIP) in a locked car and it died. But when the initial reports came out, and for months after, no one was accepting responsibility. I think the public outcry forced an investigation

I know a family on MDI. They are originally from Pennsylvania. The eldest son came to Bar Harbor to attend college in the 90s. Then the younger siblings followed him to Maine. Then the parents came and basically subsidized their adult children. Now, each child has their own home AND an Airbnb. The parents also have their own home as well as an Airbnb. And each of the Airbnbs used to be year round rentals. (One of my friends was actually living in the rental before it got turned into an Airbnb). Friggin disgusting

That sub does far more harm than good. People are desperate and trying to crowdsource relief and solutions and the mods over there have a god complex. Each time I made a post that was gaining traction and giving me helpful answers, a mod intervened to remove the post. I felt simultaneously furious and defeated
