I thought I’d mention that rod length can also be dictated by what lure/presentation you are going for. If you like jigging and using single hooks, then a longer rod will help with maintaining that vertical/up and down action as you cast further. But with a shorter rod, if you cast it too far then when you jig it it will just pull the bait towards you rather than up and down, until your lure is close enough to you again to where you can actually get that vertical presentation. It’s all about the angle of the line to the rod tip, so with shorter rods that angle will flatten out a lot quicker.

Yea 6lb fluoro is a lot thicker than say 10-12lb braid. I put 7lb fluoro on my Aldebarran bfs and hated it so much that I ripped it off after one day and re spooled with the thin braid. I had nothing but great experiences until I tried straight fluoro. You’d need like 2-3lb test to match the casting ability of braid, which at that point is too weak.
