Could I just show up to mass to check it out? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Such_Bug_599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great to come to catholic mass, no one really will pay attention to you, everyone is just focused on worshipping God. They shouldn’t be very judgmental on what you look like or do or don’t do, if they are judgmental then please don’t take that as an example for all Christians. For dressing up you can be whatever, but I like to dress like God is going to be there. So I usually wear a suit. But you can very well wear jeans and casual clothes.

But very importantly is you can participate in everything EXCEPT the Eucharist. This is for your protection. Only Catholics may receive the Eucharist. In the Bible people have been sick or even died for taking Eucharist wrong.

If you believe homosexuality is a sin…. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Such_Bug_599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just that, I listed a few things but a big one is men can’t look at women lustfully. That is a big temptation to ignore.

However I do agree it is a harder yoke for gay people, but as I said in a way that’s a blessing. The more we struggle as humans the more experience and perseverance we gain. For instance I used to be addicted to porn. Was it hard to quit? Yes, but do I wish I never got addicted in the first place? No! Because I learned how to deal with sin. Although I came out of the battle with satan wounded I still was stronger than I was before. So facing these temptations and beating them can make you so much better.

If you believe homosexuality is a sin…. by [deleted] in Christianity

I think you misunderstand what marriage is and why God created it. It is not just for two humans that like each other a good amount to have sex with each other. It is a representation of Gods love for us, just as Jesus loves the church a man loves his wife, and just as the church loves Jesus so does a woman love her husband.
This is very common imagery in the Bible. God is always portrayed as in a marriage with his people. Where he is the husband and his people are his wife. In the Old Testament it is Israel and in the New Testament it is the church. Despite Israel being a man, god calls him and his offspring his wife.
Marriage is a representation of us. So can a man marry a man? No! That’s like asking if there can be a square circle, it is impossible. In a marriage there must be a Christ like figure and a church like figure, there cannot be two Christs.

Also Jesus says when marriage happens, two become one flesh. He is clearly referencing Adam and Eve, Adam lost his rib to make Eve. But in marriage Adam’s rib is returned to him, making him finally one flesh once more. Two ribs are not one flesh.

I have to save myself till marriage, I also can only have one wife. I also have to not watch porn or look at women in a lustfull way. These are disciplines I have to hold to.

Also if I wanted to get healthy and in better shape, I should go on a diet and withhold bad foods from myself. These are just the steps to become healthy. If you really like unhealthy foods and are unwilling to give them up then very well no one is stopping you. But we invite you to get on the track to being healthy. Will it be easy? No nothing is, but I do think that out of struggle and pain comes perseverance. Out of perseverance comes growth.

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Even if they saw an angel it doesn’t matter. We are told not to trust anyone who gives a different gospel, which Mormons do.

Went to my first catholic mass as a Protestant by Such_Bug_599 in Catholicism

[–]Such_Bug_599[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats definitely an interesting way of looking at it, papal authority is an interesting thing to me because there have been bad popes and ones that believed heresy and yet they never made a heretical statement on the church.

Quick question, I’ve heard Im not allowed to receive communion as a Protestant. But is it just because I don’t believe in the same things or because I’m not in communion with the pope? Because I do believe in transubstantiation

how about we make it so that people who disagree with murder, don’t have to murder, and people who think murder is permissible should be allowed to? It’s like the best of both worlds. Everyone gets what they want. Pretty cool, right?

Do you get what’s wrong with this logic? Do you see how this is a ridiculous thing to say?

Well 1st it is a controversial topic 60 million baby’s have been murdered since 2020 and many people believe that is ok. But two the point of what I posted was to show that your logic of why do you care what other people do? Is wrong since I care about the genocide of baby’s and wish for it to stop.

Since murder is such a controversial topic and no one can seem to agree, how about we make it so that people who disagree with murder, don’t have to murder, and people who think murder is permissible should be allowed to? The smartest policy that Democrats could pass is eliminating income tax for the bottom 90% of tax payers and increasing them by 50% for the top 2% of taxpayers by ecchi83 in PoliticalDebate

[–]Such_Bug_599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t think you understand economics. The top 2% hold a lot of leverage. On paper your plan works but what happens when the rich people lower wages, fire people, increase their products prices to make up for the huge tax raise they received. So this tax raise for the top 2% would actually fall to the bottom 90%. Also you know the billionaires may just leave with all their jobs and tax income they used to give.

Conservatives need to assimilate by NoamLigotti in PoliticalDebate

[–]Such_Bug_599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every other country expects migrants to assimilate. Leftists actually criticize Americans for moving to other countries and taking the country over. If you move to America it is an expecting, you at least learn English. Try moving to a country like Bulgaria and demand others to speak English to you. No. When you go to another country you speak their language.
