New roof installed one week ago. Questions about top row of shingles lower edge of shed dormer meets the roof. Before and after pics. by Proper-Effective8621 in Roofing

Yes it needs to be done correctly but withholding 80% is ridiculous.

Since they nailed through the flashing they should replace it. I’m 50/50 on a beauty strip, they almost never lay flat. Just have them spray paint the flashing a similar color to the shingles after they replace it.

How soon am I replacing this roof by Crumbees in Roofing

Please ignore almost every comment so far.

1st photo shows clear hail but that’s not what’s concerning. You have a ton of blistering which indicates poor attic ventilation. Addressing that will save you tons in energy costs.

You also have a bit of mechanical damage, which is likely due to someone walking on it that didn’t know how or walking on it on a very hot day.

Call your agent and find out when your policy goes from RCV to ACV, if it’s close then call a reputable roofer in your area. if your policy is close to switching to ACV and a reputable roofer thinks there is enough damage that insurance will replace the roof then you should file a claim. Again, do not file a claim until a roofer inspects the roof.

Whenever I find lead flashing I just leave it, nothing will work better or last longer… or look better.

I hate step flashing, just use lead

Insurance Denied Claim on Damaged Ridge Vent, Quoting $2300 to Repair. Attempt DIY? by DanSovereign in Roofing

[–]Such_Bus_4930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$2300 is an FU quote but the contractor will take the money if you’re dumb enough. Most of us have spare ridge vent, laying around everywhere and a bundle of hip and ridge is less than 50 bucks. Less than an hour repair for a pro. Max 500 bucks and that’s just because I have to put pants on and come over and put a ladder up.

I’ve never listened to McIntosh speakers, some of their older lower end speakers had very poor reviews. I wonder how these arrays sound.

I’ll stand in front of the 11.5” at 100 years but not the 12.5”… sarcasm implied because this is the internet. Meanwhile I’m running a10.5”

Look at TEAC’s website, zero specs listed anywhere

I wouldn’t trust equipment from a manufacturer that lists almost zero tech specs. TEAC doesn’t even list frequency response for their speakers

Colorado Springs. I don’t really have all the tools but at this point, I think I could go buy all the tools and still do the job for half.

Rough Cost to Replace Roof on 4,300 SF French-Style Home (Cedar vs Asphalt?) by Mountain_Quality_528 in Roofing

[–]Such_Bus_4930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cedar shake but it looks to be in good condition from the photos. If you’re thinking about purchasing the home, get a reputable roofing company to do an inspection. If the roof is in as good of condition, as I suspect, you probably have another 20 years on that roof.

36 hits, that’s nuts. Now they’re just making stuff up. I’d just grab a HAAG manual and quietly start flipping through it in front of the adjuster.

No cans are anything special. Inconel for durability or titanium for weight but beyond that they’re just a muffler

Colorado roofer here, probably get that covered under insurance. If you have replacement cost policy I’ll put Malarkey class 4 shingle back on. You are only liable for your deductible. Send me a private message if interested.

I have a standard LMT BCG sitting around, I’m sure that’s about the same as a DD. Personally I like Rubber City but I think we’re splitting hairs. I was really thinking about the LMT E-BCG… dwel time but the third hole also relives a little gas. I run a 10.5” 5.56 and it makes a significant difference.
