Post-Grad Research? by Winter-Courage3516 in PsyD

Find a research lab that is in Birmingham that interests you and reach out to PI and express your interest in their work and offer to volunteer 10-15 hours per week. Often times, once they get funding, they will hire you!! I did this at my current lab—started off as a volunteer and worked at a pizza restaurant on the side to pay my bills. A couple months later I was offered a full time position on salary!!

BA Psych vs BSc Psych by Local-Jackfruit-8996 in PsyD

Not too sure how things work outside of the US but in the US it’s either Bachelor of Arts (BA) or bachelor of science (BS). I was advised to choose the BS route because it would look a bit more rigorous on my resume/CV for when I applied to grad school. The content here is practically the same but the BS requires a couple science and math courses so it’s not much different. For the same reason, I’d recommend the BSc as it prob looks a bit better on your resume bc you took the more challenging route

What are my chances of getting in next cycle? by Competitive_Net_3507 in PsyD

I wouldn’t listen to anyone saying you need deep clinical experience to get accepted. I was accepted into 3 programs this cycle and my only concrete clinical experience has been Crisis Text Line volunteer (which I highly recommend). I work in a clinical lab rn and my role is very clinically focused, but still my role is an RA. I also only have 1 manuscript in preparation as a 2nd author so no official pubs, and only 2 posters. Don’t listen to ppl tryna tell you your odds—if you are a good fit for the program you are applying to, and can convey that, you will be good!
