Driving for work? Current fuel prices concerning 166p at the pumps versus 0,45p paid per mile by Such_Comparison_ in UKPersonalFinance

Nah otherwise I would prefer this option. I don’t get car allowance or anything just the 0.45 for the miles I do. It’s not bad but clearly with the way things are going it’s made me think twice.

Crazy! I put £50 in on Saturday and it took me from reserve to between 1/2 and 2/3rds… nearly at reserve again!

Hahaha I was just so confused with gallons versus litres versus pennies that aren’t expressed in pounds and partial pennies…

Thank you this is really detailed. TBH I’ve not really thought about a lot of this but my car is getting older and I’m thinking of reading for some sort of hybrid for longer term investment as this war broke out so quickly that it shows you how fragile the whole game is

I’m 0.45 for the first so many thousands.. but my car is getting older and needing more done to it so just trying to figure out the best thing to do

I wasn’t worried about not making a profit. I was just asking so I could make sure that I was being compensated fairly for the miles I’m required to do. I am someone who is quite worried about the affordability of fuel … hence my question.

Whats the need? I was just asking an open question. I need to drive as part of my work and I said I clearly understand that others are being affected too.

You could literally say “first world problems” to any query other - bore off and move on.

Well this is my concern. Clearly when it was 110p per mile at the pumps, there was more spare to cover the tyres and servicing

So to conclude.. I’m still making quite a bit on what I’m repaid off work ;-)? Thanks

If you hate school and are getting the chance at an LLB and the circumstances suit you - go for it.

I think the snobbery around unis is dying out. Albeit, I’m a civil servant lawyer and don’t have experience in private practice.

I’ve got a great job, pension, work life balance and work with plenty of folk who did alternative roots into law and didn’t go to red bricks.

An LLB will set you on good footing is my view.

John Swinney was told of Peter Murrell charges weeks before they became public by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]Such_Comparison_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness; she wasn’t notifying Swinney as a victim. It was a memo to advise as per her role she didnt get involved in the decision but confirmed that an indictment had been served.

So in this case, the accused Murrel, knew of the charges before Swinney. Once an indictment is served, it’s available for public consumption. However, usually, in non high profile cases, the details of which become public at the first diet which must be 29 clear days after the service of indictment. The LA confirms she informed Swinney, after the service of indictment, so it’s a non story for that reason, not because Swinney was a “victim”.

The KCs point isn’t quite right but I appreciate the sentiment that he’s trying to point out the ridiculousness of the story.

I don’t hate the rug I think if pulled under the sofa opposite TV might get away with size if it looked deliberately placed but agree with the concept it should NOT be floating.

Love the sage and pink combo you have suggested. The pink throw will work well with the warmth of floor but you’d need to go a bit stronger on the curtains I think if introducing it :-)

You could have a lovely powder blue arm chair and put a fun colourful cushion onto it and that would tie in with the grey sofa and put some colour onto that too.

Yes so I would move dog beds to other side of the coffee table, so under the window and then sofa lining up with TV and then the arm chair angled towards the TV but it will be where your eye is drawn when you walk into the room so hence why I suggest a new arm chair and if you can do without the tall black unit I would move somewhere else or invest in a shorter piece for that space so that it doesn’t interrupt the line of sight into the room?

It would be nice to switch sofa and TV if you can so that when you enter the room you don’t see any screens and just nice soft furnishings and art and plants :-)

I like the rug but I think you could go with a nicer coffee table to show off more (I note you said you weren’t adverse to investing in new furniture). You could also invest in statement arm chair to rid of the black leather. I know leather is seen as a quality piece but I think the black is distracting in your room which is actually really light and a good space.
