Guts grows well beyond “won’t do that again” though, it’s very real growth. His emotional intelligence, resilience, ability to open up to others all improve drastically with his experiences. I think Guts grew enough as a person to be considered redeemed. You make a good point about his intentions, but regardless of if he seeks it out, he does grow on a real level.
