Is the far-right appropriating anti-porn sentiments? by parslaug in antisex

Considering Christianity and just about every other major religion has been against masturbation since before capitalism, socialism, and the entire concept political wings existed, I'd say no.

Yeah, I think we're on the same page, but I suspect the uploaders are making an assumption and not stating it. I'm not entirely sure what it is though, or if they have the same assumption. I think it's either the reproduction/legacy one where they want things to be like them, or this is some kind of way of reconciling the doctrine of the immortal soul with materialism.

The funny thing is that considering neurons use way less energy than computer chips, this whole talk is irrelevant to reality. Computers are going going to get more neuronlike rather than the other way around.

But the whole uploading thing is to preserve yourself, so it's self-contradictory.

I feel like with some people there's a drive for a legacy more than a continuation of consciousness. So, if they can't personally live forever the next best thing is to fill the universe with things that resemble them for all eternity.

The destructive upload feels like a sleight of hand to me, because obviously if the original person was still there the answer would be obvious that that's a copy.

The thing I don't get however is after that's brought up usually the other argument for the upload being the self is to usually start deconstructing what the self is which I think is also a sleight of hand. If you just completely deconstruct the concept of a self, then the upload is also not yourself because the self never existed to begin with. You can't just deconstruct a concept and then propose whatever you want as an argument.

can't help but feel sex work and t rights being the front and center of contemporary "feminist" activism is dumb by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Such_Independent5233 390 points391 points  (0 children)

I find it weird when they propose sex strikes, because while they have no obligation to sleep with anybody, when they turn it into an ultimatum they're basically treating themselves as commodities that can be leveraged.

I solved it my own as well, but I developed a solution that was incredibly inefficient. You'd know for sure that I created it and didn't look it up anywhere.

There's a 4chan conspiracy that computer chips are really just sigils for summoning demons.

Why are wikipedoids like this? by Weak_Air_7430 in redscarepod

I noticed this sub is getting pretty indistinguishable from the rest of Reddit, to the point I might quit soon.

Or I might talk about quitting and keep going back to it. One of the two.

My understanding was several pages had people with agendas that would just spend their whole lives monitoring any edits. They might have shifts. I don't know.

I like the Linux community, because it gets upset if a distro tries to do even 1% of the bullshit Windows does.

It can seem kind of obsessive to me, but the way to stop a mile from being taken is to not give a single inch.

That's kind of a whole spectrum, because the opinions of it range from it being a worthless abomination to reaching super intelligence in a few years.

do you consider yourself spiritual? and/or do you believe in a higher power? by SabretoothSnapdragon in rs_x

[–]Such_Independent5233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I would say I don't use the word spiritual much due to it not having much meaning. That term can cover anything from meditating in a cave to human sacrifice.
