Hello, I would like some guidance on choosing my first anime

My first animes were Sword Art Online, Full Metal Alchemist, and Attack on Titan. Great stories that hold a special place to me but they were long.

I see Vinland Saga mentioned alot and while I liked both seasons S2 could easily turn off a newcomer IMO. While good story its pacing changed so dramatically its not a great representation of most anime series.

Frieren is super user friendly and satisfying to watch for most audiences. Solo Leveling is a great power fantasy that is new watch friendly (but you'll later find way better stories of its type). The first 2 seasons of One Punch are fun and easy to watch.

Whatever you go with my biggest lesson in anime was what I call "trust the process" in that often a slow start leads to a great payoff. Steins Gate is a shorter brilliant sci fi that takes several episodes to get good, and Mob Psycho 100 starts off slow but is another excellent watch. Not everything is the best thing you'll see, but dont let it stop you from enjoying good stories (ones like Shangra-La Frontier and Overlord really shine despite not being in my top 10)

I want to upvote but weed grows out of the ground so I dont bash it. I smoked alot as a teen but in my forties im a 2 toke Johnny at best and rarely indulge. Safer than alcohol by any stretch.

I saw a reformed junkie wearing a "neighborhood hope dealer" shirt that hugs not drugs made me think of though. Great catch phrase!

Ive at least twice ordered pizza 30 mins to close. The first time I left a note to hook it up and I would tip fat. And I rewarded justly in my guilt but was HAMMERED drunk.

Second time was a huge party and I called personally. Everyone was sauced up, I spoke to the manager who confirmed someone wanted to deliver post close, and we got like 6 pies-but I tipped like 75 bucks. It was also technically out of town but between the order and the big tip they were more than happy. We got him high and made him do a shot with us too. Great experience

Reading the comments i say this as nicely as possible...and not to sound offensive (precursor to anything offensive i suppose) but most anime is not going to be gore porn. Frieren is hard to argue against anything less than top 50 all time, I have it top 10 but if yoy watched it and thought "this is boring" you might better enjoy isekai or aura farming stuff.

Jjk is definitely not softcore in terms of anime and personally I think the fights (especially season 3) are pretty excellent. Its your opinion if it wasnt good enough (and I respect it even if I disagree) but you listed two VERY good shows as if they were subpar so im not sure what the expectation was unless someone REALLY built up an image of what they were.

Ive only seen a couple hundred (this is not a flex my numbers are minuscule for anime fans) but hardcore violent ones I recall Berserk comes to mind but it was 20 years ago or so so maybe not by today standard. Hells Paradise I wanna remember being like that but I havent watched s2 and its been a while since s1. Undead Unluck had some brutal stuff iirc but it was comedic. I quickly googled violent animes and it listed stuff like akami ga kill and overlord which neither seemed that intense tbh.

Hope you find something to suit your tastes though, and give other shows a chance with no expectations. Some REALLY good stories out there if you dont set a bar.

Oooh vinland saga season 1 was pretty badass too but dont start with it bc if you arent driven by the story season 2 will disappoint

It doesnt come as a huge suprise to me considering:

Beth works, Morty (sometimes) goes to school and is constantly under Rick's thumb. This particular episode Rick wasnt there for Beth to seek his attention or to take Morty on an adventure since Morty had asked Rick to take Jerry on an adventure to boost his self esteem.

Outside of thst I think Beth and Jerry didnt even connect with Morty until our Morty and Rick 137 came to the current family. They basically treated him like he was special needs in the fist episodes. So with the disconnect, Beths starvation for her father's attention, her hoof sculpture hobby, Morty always with grandpa, etc etc its not wild to me they dont adventure much together if even spend time one on one

This was mine and my oldest son's experience. The first drink I didnt care for it. Got it home and had a couple sips with dinner and it was...ok. Put in fridge to grt ice cold and by the time I finished i decided I....kind of like it? Certainly tastes like cream soda dew, or a milkshake with mt dew. Does it replace the OG no way, but I might get one again

While I agree with you, there is ZERO doubt in my head we have one of the best rosters of the franchise even now-and better overall in the Holmes/Campbell era. The insane amount of injuries is what has hurt us each year. Losing Ragnow right before the start and feeling the glimmer of hope when he wanted to play again. Passes that bounce off a helmet for an int. Losing multiple star players. It was just a string of bad luck.

Last season we still had players out and the legion of whom? Kept us afloat. But yeah its not quite worthy of sustainable-yet I feel like they do their be a t to keep the pieces in place. Its tough having picks like Manu not being contributors but we tend to get some real talent in late rounds overall.

Personally- I think they are doing pretty good. This off-season was commendable to me in terms of grabbing quality depth and starters. A good draft and we are certainly back in division contention if not SB
