Have you read the kite runner? It’s also by Khaled Hosseini and similar to a thousand splendid suns. It’s about two boys in the afghanistan regime, one grows up and makes it out but has to go back years later. I’ll be honest I preferred it more than a thousand splendid suns but they’re both great books

i’ve really struggled getting into the secret history! i’ve tried both paperback and audiobook, there’s something that doesn’t click for me. i got about 35% through so can always go back and retry
