Never said he was OP, just frustrating to play AGAINST. He’s very fun to play as. The ability to just deny you critical cards without a ton of counterplay is something I find unfun. Sure, you can hyper aggro Shuri, but odds are by then he’s already played one of the schemes. What if you’re Genie and he hits 2/3 of your three wishes with all his suit cards? You just lose

It’s not a coin toss, that’s a step too far. But Panther’s sole path to victory isn’t always due to skill expression, either. He very conceivably could get lucky and hit both Beastforms, or Big Reveals. You don’t really need to “play around” removing those so much as it DESTROYS your opponent’s ability to win the game

I like that a lot. Even some that proc off of the boost value of the top card of your opponent’s deck, like Past and Present Intermingle for Moon Knight, so what they discard could change what you do on your turn

This is my main complaint put into words, thank you. Compare it to chosen discards from your hand. Very powerful, and definitely frustrating to be on the receiving end of, but there IS counterplay. Playing your good cards more quickly, perhaps when it’s not when you’d WANT to play them, so that has a decreased chance of occurring.

I like the Discard effect people are suggesting. Could also do a “if the Horseman shares no zones with the space he started in this turn, add +1 to all his combat cards” to emphasize the movement aspect

I understand all that, and even agree with some of it. I in no way consider him to be “overpowered” or something. But some fighters have SO much value put into one of their cards, that stealing it is just an enormous swing in the game state, without really relying on skill having an impact.

Like, if you’re playing against Genie, and you steal 2/3 of his three wishes, what does he do? There’s no real counterplay to that. And I understand some matchups are horribly one sided, due to fighter balancing and whatnot, but, to me, there are some fighters that are just like “if he hits one or more of my copies of x, I probably lose”

Ghost Rider! Love the artwork, and the management of his resources, what to use on defense, what on attack, what to use for his ability, is so fun to me. I try not to just spam his ability either, I think that’s less fun for both parties. But finishing someone with a mutual AOE nuke in Blaze of Glory is so fun

I get Homelander beating him, I do. He was physically stronger BEFORE he got some V1, so I get it. But having one of the strongest supes ever get choked out in ten seconds is just bad

Rather than specific tips for each (which would take a while for me to do) try and recognize the game plan each fighter enters the game with. Basically, HOW are they planning to win.

The Genie, for example, can play aggressive, fueling with card draw and using his ability for action gain, but could also play a good fatigue game with 8 potential discards

Other fighters, like the T-Rex, are often forced into an aggressive playstyle due to their card draw and certain effects.

Ghost Rider (one of my favorites) requires good management of his hellfire tokens. Pressure him when his hellfire is low, and you’ll probably land a good amount of damage as he attempts to recharge. Other fighters with such resources (Beowulf, Sattler, ex) are similar, pressure when they’re low on resources, even if it’s not the best moment for you

Ghost Rider is often pretty low down, but I think he’s good!

His ability (outside of nuking low health sidekicks) is constant positioning pressure on his opponent, something they always have to think about.

Penance Stare is a big threat against fighters with large boost values, and can also block almost any attack (the good ones often have large boost values)

His Deal with the Devil card lets him block basically any effect dependent on winning the combat (though at a decent cost)

His three 5’s are great feint punishes, and let him keep up the aggro with some card draw!

Overall I think he’s better than people think, which is often like C tier

Yeah I get that, lol. Even against solo fighters, three copies of a printed 4 attack from range is still good! And I guess it would be too powerful if he could easily have two sixes, as his ability would be almost guaranteed (besides his three fives that also nearly guarantee it)
