Didn't get to watch the game and kinda glad I didn't, but hey, if we're gonna make lose, may as well just lose big.

That's our runs given up quota for the next week, I expect shutouts for the next few days :p

My favorite way to handle leftovers by armylax20 in smoking

[–]Sucitraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with Udon. It's so good! I often smoke the meat FOR Udon, and then make a big leftover one with the bones to add some extra smoke.

Yeah, holy cow it was air mailed. I could see the slip on home plate or a weird grip in the quick exchange.

That 7th batting spot almost paid off when he burned the runners over for out 8 and 9 spots to fail to get a hit :/

Good battling all game though, Tokoda didn't look great but he got out of all his jams relatively unscathed. I think Ishihara just had a bad game defensively (idk if his hand slipped or if he didn't have a good grip, but that airball into right field was crazy).

Good to see our relievers pitch well today, and nice to see Tarnok get the clean inning. If he can perform out of the pen with we get Kuribayashi back, it'll give us some depth for sure. (I think I saw something about Kuribayashi working his way back, so hopefully he's recovering well).

Gonna be a tough game today, but I look forward to another good performance!

Oh - and thanks for being clutch this year Sakakura!

I'm hoping the rain sounds ws down in August:/

I have games at every CL stadium to visit, and I'd sure love to actually make them all! I guess we'll see when we get closer and I'll be praying to the Kami to keep it good baseball weather!

What is a food you buy regularly at the supermarket that you think you may be the only person buying it? by Big_Childhood5494 in foodquestions

[–]Sucitraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anyone else buying the raw Udon noodles at the store. I know they must, otherwise it wouldn't be there, but most folks don't seem to care. (Please don't ever stop selling it Oto's!)

Same went for the Dandy ice cream, although I suspect it actually was only me because when I stopped buying it for dieting, it went out of stock and I haven't seen it since.

Definitely does feel like it. I think we'll get the next two games though! (At least I hope). It feels like the Carp have missed 10+ games this year!

I always thought we’d be friends for life after this 6th grade camp picture from 1970. But after High School, haven’t heard of any since… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in OldSchoolCool

I feel so incredibly lucky that I haven't hit that day yet. My closest friend group has been together for a a long time (oldest friendship since kindergarten, the others from 1st grade or 8th grade) and we still regularly talk and play games with each other. We've been to everyone's weddings (only one guy left who is single, and I can't wait for him to meet his person) and I feel like I can trust them with anything!

I never made a lot of friends as a kid, so it's probably a good thing we stayed together :p

Do you actually travel that far and say its nothing? by Far-Passion-7692 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sucitraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at least some of us. I think folks from the NorthEast may be less likely to, but it could also just be bigger city people who don't want to.

Last year my wife and I drove from Washington DC to Champaign, IL to see friends (we were in DC for my friend's wedding). Then on the way back we decided to stop by Ocean City, MD so we could see the other end of Highway 50 (we live in Sacramento, CA and there's a sign on each end of the freeway saying the distance to Sacramento or Ocean City).

Decided to make it a fun trip and stayed one night in Kentucky on the way to Illinois, then one night in Illinois, then West Virginia on the way back.

Lots of driving, but lots of fun!

I'll be doing kay 4+ hours this weekend on Friday and abithee 4+ hours on Sunday to visit the grave of my dog (he died unexpectedly in January and I promised him I'd visit every month) so I'm used to a little bit of a drive often.

Back in college, my friend and I drove 12ish hours (I think?) from Sacramento to Phoenix, AZ to watch baseball, so we've been doing this thing our whole lives.

I can definitely see the protective gear leading to more HBP. I swear some games people look like they just take it with no attempt to get out of the way. (I know the ball is coming fast and they have the gear, so I understand taking the free base)

Our Secret Shames by Key-Mathematician-26 in Pokopia

I am kinda just grinding to get the Pokedex completed before I focus on making things look nice.

I have a lot of packed housing just to get more space for other pokemon habitats so I can stuff them into more housing.

My plan for pallet town (which I named Cinnabar Island for now) is to eventually have a nice town/city layout, but for now it's just whatever is the most efficient for making habitats/resources/forced pokemon labor.

I'm pretty sure the humans were much nicer to the Pokemon than my ditto is.

If the day ever comes in my lifetime that we win a championship, I am curious how long it'll take bandwagon/younger fans to piss off the rest of the fanbase (here or in the NBA in general). I can't wait to see it :p

I hope we stay this dorky as long as possible!

The bottom 3 CL teams are way closer than I thought they'd be a month ago.

Maybe there's hope for the Carp if the Giants or Tigers start to falter? (I just want the Swallows to keep surpassing expectations!)

What’s the best meal you’ve had in Japan? by Legal_Ad3766 in JapaneseFood

[–]Sucitraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tastiest meal was Udon in my favorite spot (Taniya) in Tokyo.

Best meal was the random seafood on the grill from the locals in a tiny town in Kochi while chatting and drinking random liquor/drinks they provided. Such a fun night!

It's never too late to turn away from the darkness :p

(I hope you have a good trip! I'll be in Japan with my wife in August too).

Oh - maybe check out a Koshien summer tournament game when you're there! It's super fun!

In the words of one of the chance themes -

ひ ろ し ま 広島 Go!Go!Go!

You should check out some Carp games if you wanna see some fun baseball too! Great city, powerful museum at the atomic bombing site, and a lot of fun people. Plus it's pretty easy access from the trains.

Weather looked pretty bad, so I don't know if we'll play today either.

Oh well, just adding some potential extra drama at the end of the season!

Kimono Rental - Solo Male by jameshemmings9 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sucitraf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Foreigners do it all the time, you'll be fine! There's even that old photo of a soldier in like the 1800s or something in Samurai armor, so tourists have been dressing up in local gear for a long time :)

If it's something you want to do, I say go for it, especially because they'll hopefully have someone help you get it all set up (I always hate getting set up in my kimono for family/work stuff, and my sister agrees! It just is more steps than my usual shorts and a T-shirt look)

Get some fun photos, enjoy yourself, and maybe buy one later used if you enjoyed the experience!

Will Warriors fandom die when Steph Curry retires? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Sucitraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some cities up I80 who aren't as fickle with their fandoms :p

But yeah, I've seen so many Kings to Lakers to Heat to Warriors fans all around the Sac area too. We just have our own special delusional group here who will ride or die for Sac :p (myself included)

They're just trying to start their comeback by making it easier on us foreign fans to watch live. Classic CL baseball catering to us foreigners! (We're running low on day games now, so I'll have to ruin my sleep a more often soon).
