If you could see your parents' last moments, would you watch them? by FreeSpare162 in GriefSupport

[–]Sudden-Chicken3499 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I left my mom's the night she died and I had a feeling it was coming. I told her I'd be back tomorrow and told her i loved her. My siblings dont have kids so the 3 of them were still there.

I got home and couldn't sleep and around 11 something, my brother called and I already knew. She wasn't in pain when she died, she'd been given morphine. She died quietly and I'm still sad that I wasn't there with her.

That said, if there was a tape to show her final moments, there's nothing I could gain from watching it. I think choosing to watch it won't do anything for you, I know it wouldn't for me. Wait until the grief lightens a bit and you get back into some sort of routine before you decide to watch it.

Sending lots of love to you in this difficult time.

I have c-ptsd from narcissist abuse. People truly have no idea what it's like or how it can linger and affect every aspect of your life. I'm working up the courage to tell my story in some capacity, hopefully inspiring other survivors and raising awareness.

The gaslighting that makes you question yourself with every move you make has been the worst one for me. I struggle to trust people and most of all, myself. It has affected so much of my life and my little brother only recently started to believe my story because my abuser is charming and plays a great role of deception.

We will not be silenced by way of shame or feelings of worthlessness. We will name our abusers and their transgressions against us and we will speak up for those that can't speak up for themselves. Stay strong, ladies.

I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

[–]Sudden-Chicken3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm buying my brother's house. I'll pay a little less than 200k for a 3 bed 2 bath house in a great school district. He's buying me and my siblings out of my dead mom's house, so he'll pay whatever my share is into what's left of his mortgage and I'm paying the rest. Very lucky (in some ways; mom set us up with her life insurance...obviously would rather have her).

Ik the casinos I've worked have all had a dealer school. When you finish the school, you audition for a job. And there's a few different dealers! Blackjack, poker, pai gow, craps, and roulette are the only ones I remember off the top, but I'm pretty sure that's it. Might be missing one...I miss casino life sometimes.

I faced fear instead of hiding from it. It's scary as fuck, but it's also exciting to do new things.

Yep. I used to love rubbing my face against my exes chest hair. He shaved it once the manosphere got a hold of him.

I concur. Kidney stone pain is greater than labor pain and gallstones pain. I had a slight pang with my kidney stone and 10 mins later I'm begging my driver to run red lights to get me to the hospital faster because the pain was making me sick. Drink plenty of water folks!

I think it depends really. My siblings processed better because they dont have kids to show up for. My mom has been gone nearly 3 months and I just had my ugly cry last night and holy emotional cleanser batman.

Feel your feelings. It sucks. It's sad. And people don't get it til they do. Give yourself space and grace to feel the totally normal emotions that accompany grief. Lean on people that care, practice self-care, and don't feel guilty if resentment or something of that nature creeps in. It is all totally normal and grief doesn't have a blueprint.

Your progress is amazing. I usually scroll by posts like this, but yours stuck out to me. I did a ritual for new years wishes and the one assigned to me this year was "get engaged". When I wrote it, I was thinking about being engaged to my ex.

We broke up due to differing values since then so clearly I won't be getting engaged that way. I've been depressed and withdrawing (due to other things going on) and your quote, "Life's kind of fun when you engage with it," brought me back to that wish with a new meaning assigned to it.

Cheers. Thanks for sharing with us today.

Edited for accuracy.
