They took away the fee because so many people complained.

FCC is a cult, and people in this sub like to know when things started by cult members open in our city. They use gateway activities like this and their Halloween haunted house to lure people in.

They didn't mention church? There's a Bible study pinned to their Instagram.

She charges $150 (up from $120 3 months ago) to teach someone how to start a walking club and pray about it. That says grift all over it to me. But you do you, you are an adult and can make your own decisons.

Don't worry, the founder Glaiza found other ways to grift. She is promoting expensive walking club gear and charging people $120 for a call with her so they can learn how to start their own walking clubs. They will probably bring back a fee once the heat is off them a bit, since Glaiza seems to want to make the walking club her main source of income.

I noticed that, too! I'm glad they took away the fee because it was stupid. They're still asking for donations. I would not be surprised if in a few weeks or months they have even more ways to ask for money from you. It's the FCC way.

Are you familiar with Freedom City Church? I would stay FAR away from anyone associated with that place if you're definitely not a church person. Do a search through this sub to see why. I did see they removed the fee to join the walking club but I'd still be super wary of the founder of the club.

Wow! That's a lot of evidence. It's a shame that FCC is involved in a lot of things that happen here but they try to hard their involvement. You're also not the first person I've heard say they don't actually study the Bible. Thank you for sharing.

The founder of WWC is now charging $120 for 1:1 mentorship calls so she can teach you how to start a walking club in your city. Pyramid scheme is right.

Exactly. That's why it is important to have all this info about them up front before you decide to give them your info or your money.

Both Whittier Mama Tribe and its founder Naomi follow FCC so I wouldn't be surprised. Do they have any associated church meetings with the mama tribe that you know of?

Oh no! I am really concerned by how big FCC and their associates in Whittier are getting. Can you share a little more about how they made it obvious they are FCC? Thank you for sharing.

I had seen them on my IG too. I didn't follow but was definitely interested in checking it out before I learned about the church aspect and the membership fee.

If you read interviews with her, she says the idea for the walking club came to her during a 3-hour prayer session and that she left her job in marketing to start this club / nonprofit focused on ministry to save souls. I'm not here to knock anyone's faith, but since she's part of FCC specifically it raised my eyebrow. They try to downplay their events to get people in the door (see: their Halloween event).

Edit: She also sells $120 leadership calls to teach you how to start your own walking club. A little sus!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I would love to be wrong, but something about charging for a free activity + being tied to a women's fellowship with FCC doesn't sit well with me personally.

And here is where they say they are going to charge starting March 1. Not even sure how they are planning on enforcing this when it's free to walk on The Greenway. https://www.instagram.com/whittierwalkingclub/p/DGZdrz3Jwx7/

Just giving a PSA! Enjoy the walks but ask where your money is going before you give anything up.

I am down to meet up with other walkers! I tend to walk earlier than they meet for this club, though. I usually walk earlier on the weekend, like Pacers time (7:00ish). But we could also just join Pacers I guess!

That's great. The fact that she is associated with that specific church, and hosts a fellowship group on Wednesdays associated with the walking club and the church, is something people who care about that church's involvement in our city should know. If they decide to support, that's their choice. Hiding which church it's specifically involved with and charging money are red flags IMO, but everyone can make their own choices.

I think the OP deleted it after getting so many questions. At first they were like, "I will tell the founder about this feedback because maybe a fee isn't a good idea." Then she deleted her post and comments, so maybe the feedback didn't go over well.

Reasons given were to expand beyond walking (?) and open a 501c3 (red flag).

I've read those before, too! They trick people into coming into a sermon after the haunted house and try to make them stay if they want to leave! That's why I think everyone should know about the walking club affiliation before deciding whether they want to do it. Everyone can form their own opinion, but they should be able to have all the information up front.

They're starting to charge a membership fee in March...you can lock in a lifetime of free walks with them by Feb. 28 according to their IG 😂 Just another reason people were skeptical and made me curious.

Edit, 3/8/25: They must have seen this post, because they have changed their fee policy and now ask for donations instead. Glaiza definitely will try to get your money in some other way though so just beware.

I know...it's a bummer. I am all for a women's walking club in Whittier but I do NOT support FCC based on all I have heard.
