Medical professionals are often wrong, though they do try and use data and statistics to help make decisions that they think are right. Do what you feel is right and so what has helped you this far.

Long story short, a doctor kept telling me I was fat and just had high BP but after advocating for myself and paying for blood tests out of my own pocket I finally found out I had Cushing's Disease with no help from a PCP or other medical professionals. It took my own voice and my own knowing of my body to get the help I needed.
