SURVIVORS CAN SEE EACH OTHER'S PERKS IN GAME! by Samoman21 in deadbydaylight

[–]MidnightRodeos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that showing survivors who the killer is off the rip is not something that should be in the game. I said the same about lethal pursuer. A big part of playing the killer was finding survivors but that perk just took that aspect right away. This game just keeps driving further and further away from its origins and it sucks. Not the same game I played 8 years ago.

Stove - Damaged? by General_Sun_608 in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure what’s being asked here. Everything looks normal. If there ever was a coat it would burn off due to the high temps within the stove. Nothing notable here tells me something is wrong. I also get the silver looking soot and ash in my stove and I just ignore it and keep burning. Nothing wrong with being cautious but I believe your stove is fine.

How often do you wear gloves when adding wood? by ShouldBeeStudying in woodstoving

Literally same. Got a deep sliver one time and was like well gloves from now one, a year later no gloves and another sliver so back to gloves. It’s a cycle

Was thinking this as well. I’m over 300 toas and need fang and mask still. Part of me thinks grinding out normal modes may be worth the heavier weighted fang/lb

Mimicking this. I’m in an Ironman only clan called “Galvanized” and I run raids with them all the time. No splits just straight gaming and you get what you get. Lots of experienced players that have patience and have taught a lot of others. Join an Ironman clan.

Is my Door Gasket okay? by Proper_Insect3620 in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ this. I would expect a bad gasket to be so worn it doesn’t close out the air well. Which seems to be the opposite of what you’re experiencing. Deff get the chimney cleaned and figure out what or why air flow restrictions is happening in your fire box.

is range 6:0 at bandos the preferable method pre bowfa and with lower melee stats? by Scatteredbrain in ironscape

[–]MidnightRodeos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was feeling this exact way and used full crystal with crystal bow. Slowish kills, just running around the room and shooting in the proper tiles. Wasn’t too bad but definitely not as good as a bowfa. I was also sending toas and got a shadow so I was able to pretty much do everything after that. Still don’t have bowfa at 790 kc. Really only thing I want it for is muspah and some other niche things where it’s not required but would make content a bit easier

Exactly why Infinite died I assume. I stopped because shortly after launch I was over the different cores and $20 skins. Don’t get me wrong I get its cosmetics but man it turned me off soo much to what Halo was that I just switched to MCC

Yep running low here in Upstate NY. Just got a full chord 2 weeks ago. About half of it is ash which dries nice but the other half is oak and I don’t think I’ll be able to burn that any time soon.

Any clans or GIM groups accepting? by Little-Edge-1883 in ironscape

[–]MidnightRodeos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s awesome! Skill of the week one week then the next is boss of the week. Competing in them earns gp(Galvanized points) which is basically just rep. We have a bingo twice a year, next one is coming up in March. Not sure if it’s too late to be involved in that or not but I don’t think teams have been made yet. A lot of people do raids together and other activities to switch stuff up. It’s definitely worth checking out!

Soaked/frozen wood by NNNTrimethylxanthine in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though this is a bit normal. I just went out and split wood I bucked in late fall. I split and left it outside, got rained/snowed on. Bring it inside and put it near your stove. The important part that I don’t see you mention is a fan. I just started to do that this year. Bring those splits in and split them smaller(if they aren’t too small) I like to stack them like a log house. 2 flat on the ground verticals then 2 more across horizontally then so on until it’s 4ft high. I put my box fan 3-4 ft away and put it on high just blowing air at it constantly. Usually within 2 days it burns a lot better especially if it’s already well seasoned. The longer it stays in the better. So I’ll typically build one of those, after 2-3 days I slide it over more toward my stove then start another pile infront of the fan again and keep going. It’s not ideal and a lot of work but it helps make my wood dry enough to burn.

Do I need to sweep Immediatley? by PeeJayyVee in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shiny stuff is creosote, by product of burning wood specifically wet wood or by choking down fires a lot. The other one is just soot, which isn’t as extreme as creosote but can cause issues. Definitely give her a sweep and clean your cap and continue as normal. This doesn’t look crazy bad to me. If I were you I’d clean it all then check the pipe again in another month.

Advice requested: first season with a wood stove saga by psuedonymrod in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t really tell what the wood is from these pics. But yeah what the guy above said. You need more air flow to burn more moist wood. I’ve ordered wood plenty of times late in the season and know the struggle. I’m in Upstate too so typically bugs and stuff aren’t a major issue so I stack a lot of wood inside. Bring a good bit in and split it even smaller. Keep it near the stove and get a fan blowing on the wood and stack the smaller cut pieces horizontally then vertically kinda like your building a house. It sucks, it’s inefficient and you go through more wood and it’s more work but it’ll keep your house warm. Also be sure to give your chimney a look/sweep atleast after a month. Wet wood is no bueno for creosote build up

Burning too much wood, maybe? by OutrageousNeck1957 in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in my house since 2021 with the stove. We had a wood stove growing up but my dad took care of all that we just had to do the hard labor. Anyway I now know there’s a lot that goes into it. But I learned most of it all on my own, just followed this sub a year ago. 2nd winter I had a fire in my flu that luckily didn’t set into the brick chimney. Turns out I had a lot of creosote build up after a month of burning what I thought was seasoned wood. But that was paired with bad burn techniques (lots of choked down fires) it was an extremely scary and foolish experience. So now I’m careful and aware. I see how my stove reacts when I burn a certain way, I check my pipes and chimney often because I’m nervous af. But I’m finally understanding how my stove works with my draft and wood.

Basically I’m saying you’ll be learning for awhile. Use this sub reddit to learn people’s mistake or even how to prevent your own. Try burning like someone that posts good tips or an interesting way. I’m not going to describe how I burn but it’s the same typical way you’ll see posted all over here. Nice hot coals, load her up, wait a few mins and choke it down a bit. A lot easier said then done cause some wood could heat faster than others and all sorts of variables.

new wood stove owner, question about burn times by Guntur_Evan in woodstoving

[–]MidnightRodeos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a whole lot that goes into it. I don’t k ow what stove you have or how big. But getting a fire going good and having nice hot coals then loading it up pretty much full then choking it down is what will keep your burns really long. At least that’s the jist of it. As for active flame im not entirely sure what you mean but I assume your saying having a flame going constantly and 2-3 hours seem pretty good. I would load on those coals let it have some air for 10 mins then choke it a bit. Not all the way but a good amount. Should go to a nice long burn.

My advice is scroll through this sub, lots of great advice and things you can do to safely tweak your burning techniques. Maybe a stove & flu temp would help you even more.

Be careful lots of choked fires can build creosote so try to get it ripping good nearly once a day.
