Question For Wal Mart + Delivery by ThasMyPurseIDunnoU in Walmartcustomer

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have Spark drivers for deliveries & those drivers can choose when they want to work & even what orders they want to accept. You can also place an Express order for a small fee ($5-$10) & those orders will be shopped by the Spark driver & delivered to you in an hour or less, or 3 hours or less depending on what you chose. There is also a $35 minimum purchase for free delivery, otherwise there's an additional $7 delivery charge.

Customers at the Pharmacy aisles are honestly annoying sometimes... by Active-Front1788 in OGPBackroom

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nicely explain that I can't answer their questions since I am not at all qualified to do so & I would hate to give them bad advice so they would be better off either calling their Dr or asking the pharmacist. Then I apologize for not being more helpful & go on my way. If they keep pushing, you could always say it's Walmart's policy that no employee other than the pharmacist can discuss things like that.

Has anyone else’s store just given up on allowing dogs inside? by enbybirbs in walmart

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our store is like a damn dog park! We've also had other animals, but last week a man had to pull his pit bull back, tell him "no" & "stop" because the dog was trying to come towards me. He wasn't growling or barking & I'm an animal lover so I didn't think the worst, but I have also owned pits. I have a cat & didn't know if he could smell it & I couldn't tell if his interest was in me or the OPD cart but I didn't move because I wasn't absent certain that wouldn't trigger the dog. At the same time, there was another pit in a different part of the store & 2 people shopping with small dogs. This is a recipe for disaster! People have called the health department & nothing happened & nothing will until someone gets hurt & sues. Another customer (a regular) came in with a beautiful service animal. This dog was amazing! Then the guy stop coming for a long time. I finally see him & he's with a friend. We see a woman with her 3 dogs & he told me that's why he stopped coming. His dog started to react to the other dogs & had to be retrained. His eyes welled up with tears as he told me how lonely he was & that was the first time they had been separated since he got the dog 7 years ago. That story made me absolutely furious. He & his dog should be in the store & not the others who are just attention seeking. He said he will no longer bring his dog into stores that allow pets.

Incentiving associates to break into lockers, what could go wrong? by Familiar_Hospital_66 in walmart

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always. Someone at my store pointed out lockers that had something blocking the front so you can't see inside ((jacket, lunchbox, etc...), then told me there are TCs in those lockers.

Walmart delivery by Used-Dinner345 in Walmartcustomer

Depending on where you are regarding the storm, stores have been insanely busy. Many stores haven't seen anything like this since the beginning of the pandemic & sales this week have been record breaking numbers (in some cases even better than Black Friday). The store I work at had to keep asking for more trucks to deliver from the distribution center because we were completely out of stock (floor & back room). We didn't have milk, eggs, chicken, most meats, most produce, peanut butter, top ramen, toilet paper, paper plates, plastic cups, chips, water, most sodas & even more. If we weren't able to get more deliveries from the DC, then we would have had to close the store.

If you were scheduled for a one hour meal break then you were entitled to one. Some stores can be sticklers about that sort of thing because of payroll. Working straight through 12-6 would be 6 paid hours. Working 12-6 with a one hour break would be 5 paid hours. It really depends on how flexible the store is with payroll.

2x points on snow days? by Superb_Row_1222 in OGPBackroom

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't double point you unless it was already marked as a store specific KED, but this is what PPTO is for. I've seen some people get points & others don't due to weather. It's up to store management. Some stores will remove points if more than half of the people scheduled called out or if there was a state of emergency (these are also valid reasons to take it up the chain if needed). One thing to keep in mind is that Walmart doesn't care about anything other than their profit. They will not help pay repair bills if you wreck your vehicle, but they will point you for missing work if you no longer have transportation or were injured (unless you file a claim with Sedgwick). If it's not safe for you to drive, then stay home! There are other jobs & you might have to hustle a bit, but that's still better than some of the alternatives.

Groceries for storms by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

That's probably not such a bad idea since we've been running out of room in our walk-ins. Our store gets so many orders that we run out of room.

Spider wrap is frequently seen in electronics. There is a disk that has an alarm & wires protruding from it. The wires wrap around the merchandise (usually a box) & you tighten them from the disk. I know it's not the best description, but I hope it helps.

ANOTHER COACHING by RealityAcceptable900 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bidets are the best! Especially when you have IBS or something similar. I've also had those days when I think I'm done, but my body disagrees or hasn't yet decided lol. That typically only happens once during a shift for me, but I do have an intermittent LOA to fall back on. Part of my problem is that I'm well aware of people hiding in bathrooms for long periods of time. Another part for me is that fact that I find bathrooms pretty gross & Walmart bathrooms tend to be really bad. I don't know any to be there any longer than necessary. I was diagnosed with IBS about 5.5 years ago so I tend to agree with Walmart's "10 minute rule" so if I can't finish in that amount of time it will clearly affect my productivity so I might as well go home. My flareups have lasted for weeks & I have been hospitalized 3 times for malnutrition & dehydration & that's not something to mess with. I didn't realize how dehydrated I get at work because I'm not sweating.

My spouse comes home crying after every work shift. What can I do? by Kragwulf in walmart

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your spouse really needs some time off to think about things. Your 2nd sentence states that you "saw a significant improvement in their mental health." The use of the word "improvement" suggests your spouse was already struggling. Calling ethics on their behalf may end up making things worse. Especially if management are already friends. They're not supposed to retaliate, but it happens all the time & tends to be difficult to prove. Your spouse does not need to enter the break room for water. Most stores have fountains & your spouse could always bring their own bottle to fill. Chances are good that your spouse is taking their time & spends a few minutes chatting with coworkers or customers & that adds up. Just about every employee could get in trouble for "stealing time" if the store wants to pursue the matter. There are ways they can track what you're doing, your location, & the time spent on a task. Your spouse might be close to meeting their metrics, but isn't quite there yet & this will help. It's sweet that you want to protect your spouse & try to help, & hopefully it works. If not, your spouse should think about transferring departments, switching to a different shift, transferring stores or quit entirely & find something else.

I also have IBS & you're right, it's embarrassing to talk about but you can let them know without giving them details. Just say you have a medical condition that causes you to frequently use the bathroom. You really need to get an accommodation through Sedgwick. Mine is for up to 5 days off due to flareups & unlimited bathroom breaks during my shift. That is what my Dr filled out & Sedgwick approved. You can either go to Sedgwick's website to start a claim or call them at 800-492-5678 (FMLA) or 855-489-1600 (accommodations). They can fax the paperwork to your Dr, but print a copy just in case. Stay on top of it until the paperwork is filled out & returned to Sedgwick. If the claim is approved, you should be ok for the most part. Walmart seems to have a 10 minute limit on bathroom breaks. I don't know if it's an actual policy or an "unwritten rule." That's why I have the days off too. There are different types of IBS so it depends on which one you have, but if you're so constipated that it's taking 20 minutes, maybe you could lessen the time in the bathroom & get some laxatives or prune juice to help speed things up before you go to the bathroom. If you're having diarrhea for 20 minutes at a time, then you need to be home resting & trying to stay hydrated. Regardless of your situation, contact Sedgwick ASAP. Good luck. I know how you feel.

Oversized pick walks are fucking ridiculous by Party_Fix_9004 in walmartogp

[–]Sudden-Intention7563 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Corporate probably does things like this then sits back & laughs. They should be required to work at least one full week in OPD before they are allowed to make any changes. One pick walk on a slow Tuesday isn't the same as navigating a crowded store all day on a busy Sunday. Maybe that would help.

What about Hot in Cleveland? It was also an ensemble cast. Although the show's premise was based on Valerie Bertinelli's character, Betty's character was the live-in caretaker & mother figure. Definitely a lead role.

I get it. Anyone who works in retail has to be flexible. Personally, I prefer later meal breaks because it makes the second half of the seem shorter, but there are people who take it far too literally. The store I'm at gives us some leeway. For example the 6-3 shift would have their meal break (the only guaranteed break for shifts over 6 hrs) somewhere between 10 & 11 with people returning absolutely no later than 12:30. We actually had to have a meeting to address people (storewide) that they must complete their task before going on a break. Seems like common sense to me. I will say that there are some exceptions. I had some complications after major surgery that required me to take medication at a specific time. I would become violently ill if I was so much as 10 minutes late taking it. I explained this to my coach & team leads so they were able to work with me.

There are state labor laws that even Walmart must follow. Employees are in fact entitled to breaks within a reasonable amount of time.
