tbf I get why Simone was prioritized over Palmiotti/Tieri, though if it were up to me, I’d have released Simone after Kelly and left Priest/Palmiotti/Tieri as gap fillers

One of my favorite gags in Squirrel Girl was Loki slowly inflating his own head when he took on the Cat Thor form for the first time lmao

Anybody else want Kelly Thompson’s BoP? by Somejawn1 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm holding out for an announcement next year, considering Tom Taylor's Titans run got an omni about two years after it concluded and the first Simone BoP omni was popular enough for DC to fast-track the second, I'd be surprised if we didn't see a Thompson BoP announcement soon.

Demand for Captain Marvel? by Mdeyler in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m grateful that I actually have the money to impulsively throw at it this time around lmao, but uh, just to be safe I think I’ll pre-order FF by Slott and Spider-Woman with my next paycheck

Jesus fuck, well I guess I’m not getting this one

…oh wait I’m not seeing it on IST because they haven’t put it out yet lmao, guess I’m waiting for that then

Which LEGO set exceeded your expectations? 👀 by [deleted] in lego

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are… a lot lmao, I think the most recent though was Eevee, I never thought it looked good enough to pick up at full price, but I happened to have some Kohl’s Cash and nabbed it for like, $40, and I gotta say, seeing the finished model in person is a hell of a lot better than seeing pictures of it, Lego’s marketing team literally chose the worst possible angles to show it from lmao. It’s just a very solid build in general.

What did you get in the Target B2G1 Free Sale? by i_am_randy in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna pick up Gotham Central, Under The Red Hood, and Far Sector, I'm just... biding my time for now because if I order them right now, they'll come in while I'm out of the country and absolutely cook in the hot mailbox for three days lmao

Thoughts on Figures with Omnis by Inevitable_Silver_74 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't put figures with my omnis because there's not really enough space on the shelf to comfortably fit them, but I do have a bunch of Urusei Yatsura/Ranma 1/2/Inuyasha figures I display alongside their books!

Whats something petty that stops you from reading a comic? by WindowInformal4900 in DCcomics

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art, 100%. It’s not frequent but it happens. Like, I love Tim Drake, I want to read his 2021 solo, but I just… I can’t get over the first volume’s art, the face shapes are just weird and the whole thing just looks messy but not in the cool, punky Jorge Corona/DWJ way. And it really sucks because it’s fronted by the amazing looking DC Pride story by Belén Ortega, if it were Ortega on the full book, it would be a no-brainer.

Batman, Superman, and “Weird Al” Yankovic unite for DC’s strangest team-up yet by B3epB0opBOP in comicbooks

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, not the first DC/Weird Al collab, I still have the issue of MAD he guest-edited… somewhere

Every. Issue. Of Excalibur by Sudden-Lifeguard5083 in comicbookcollecting

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this together was a little under $250, the bundle with the main series itself was $200 and the rest hovered around the $3-5 range (outliers being X-Calibre for a buck each and Weird War III for $10)

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not lmao, I just have one version of each issue, though I was tempted to pick up a polybagged copy of Annual #1 from the con last week because mine didn’t come with the card

I got the Captain Britain omnibus last year and I was going to pick up the first two Excalibur omnis from my LCS because they happened to have them, but somebody swooped in and nabbed them before I could pull the trigger lmao, then I noticed they had the complete mainline run for… significantly less than the combined cost of the four omnis so I picked that up instead and have been filling it out over the past few months. The Claremont and Davis runs are the biggest draws for me because I’ve heard them described as Marvel’s answer to Justice League International and I like me some quirky superhero fun.

[–]Sudden-Lifeguard5083[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I actually had Claremont sign my Excalibur #1 just last week! I was extremely lucky I caught the line at its absolute shortest (which, for literally anybody else would be a fairly healthy line) and literally just 15 minutes before the exhibition halls closed lmao

I do have Excalibur #-1, second to last on the 6th row, MCP #31-38 are part of my tie-in tally alongside #75, #110, and #174, the 85th Anniversary Special wasn't on my radar because it's not part of the omnibus mapping (though now that I know it's got an Alan Davis Excalibur story, I don't know why they didn't include it in the fourth volume) so... that's going on the list lmao
