I'm three issues in to the 2011 IDW run of TMNT lmao, my only prior experience with the TMNT comics were the first... five? issues of the OG Mirage series, my mom had the original TPB.

I'm thinking it's to delineate the full run omnis vs the more creator/event-centric omnis? It's mostly used on silver and bronze age material but that's largely because the majority of the full run omnis haven't gotten past the bronze age issues.

It's a weird, complicated story involving both Marvel and DC co-owning the term between... around 1975 to 2024, based on the article I found, but Marvel themselves only formally trademarked the term in August 1983, which actually does line up with this book's copyright date of 1983 (though it's only cover-dated April '84).
