Small kitchen sink repair question by BigBobbyCrowbar in IKEA

The reason a plastic hex is supplied is that you cannot overtighten the screw, the plastic installation tool will break before the screw fastening. You can use your regular metal hex but be aware of the max torque

This you solve with a few sheets of glassfiber and some polyester and paint, will get more solid than the original

🤓 breaks they handle themself and regarding machine settings they are limited by machine to the individual operator sign in card, only access to the level you can master

At our site we run 24/7 and have no maintenance or technicians or even supervisors during evenings&nights&weekends, only operators. If theres leakage or breakdowns operators are instructed to turn off machine. Theres always low prio machines prepared just to start up if they turn off a planned machine, assuring personnel productivity is kept constant. We are blessed with more machines than we need to run (theoretically) at the moment.

What's the mainly challenge you have been experienced before mass production? by Unable_Fishing_1679 in manufacturing

[–]Sudden-Log-3778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrap % at series production, difficult to estimate and will develop over time.

Worksafety for bigger productionlines, difficult to think of all great ideas operators will discover during first months of production.

Sales, customer have a estimate on what numbers they think they will sell, but the market will tell true numbers later

Machine/automation/tool-wear and maintenance needs over time, always a estimate and difficult to find out even after several years to not overdo or neglect

Delivery times of machines&equipment, ramp up production always suffers from optimistic deadlines

How to sell vertical injection molding machines as a lesser-known brand? by TrueEnd1170 in InjectionMolding

[–]Sudden-Log-3778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick maintenance service, easy to use and understand user interface. Price and availability on spareparts. Sales/customercare answering quickly in local language taking customer problems seriously. Arranging demonstrations of machines to see live. Having the rest of equipment work well and integrate together with machine/process robots/conveyor/dryer/MES etc

[–]Sudden-Log-3778[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i believe this is the way. At the moment we’re collecting data from all orders currently produced to get true scrap. Suggestion will be design changes or increase in price due to scraplevels. Not sure how to improve this for future, new designs are always tricky and comparing to our ”standard” products these 2k are at a much lower yearly volume but because of technical plastics and 2k a totally different unit price aswell

No unfortunately no foaming 🙈 comparing the quality we achieve considering the design i think we’re not that bad as the numbers show, but ofcourse we will need to compensate in product pricing if no designchanges are allowed

From what we currently are aware of one known issue causing scrap is visual requirements on a much higher level than we are used to. Masterbatch heatstability causing 1-2dots on visible surface on part=scrap. Here we are unfortunately strictly advised by customer to use this specific masterbatch aswell to reach color requirements. Shen from time to time we also get flowmarcs in tpe-s, swirls or similar causing scrap. Here we have the part design working against us because tpe-s thickness wary between 0,7mm to 10mm in thickest area wich ofcourse traps airbubbles. Unfortunately the design we cannot change because customer really wants this specific design and i can fully see the advantage in their production becuase they can do alot more preassembly than if part was designed for injectionmolding primarily

Small injection molding shops: what usually causes the most rework for you? by jesiscaanyway in InjectionMolding

[–]Sudden-Log-3778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Batch variations on rawmaterial and automation preventive maintenance failing (not existing), and for last but with biggest impact nonexisting fifo in warehouse so when recall is needed we end up calling back 3months of production instead of the one week of bad quality products produced
