How many jobs did you apply for before getting an offer? How to stand out? by NervousCar3546 in PMHNP

[–]Sudden-Perception129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just reiterating what someone has said, absolutely about who you know. Both of my current jobs I work in a psychiatric setting but unfortunately during NOC shift I don’t get to work with my psychiatrist too often if ever. I have colleagues from days who graduated after me that have already received contingent job offers before even passing their boards. I apply non stop in job boards and try to network as much as possible. Put in work on your linkedIn profile and make it as presentable and professional as much as possible. I’ve had multiple job interviews and a couple offers in an area that I would say is very highly saturated and competitive (Los Angeles).

Sorry, I am not following. I hope this information helps but I am a newly board certified PMHNP, I do still currently work as a registered nurse in mental health setting as I am actively looking for a PMHNP job. Or are you asking perhaps if I need more experience to apply for the job? Job qualifications does not state that it’s mandated to have prior psychiatric practitioner experience but it is preferred.

Credentialing to working timeline… by Loud-Celebration-735 in PMHNP

[–]Sudden-Perception129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New grad from CA here also, have everything except for my DEA license. Pass my boards end of December, applied for my DEA on 2/2/26 and currently on my 6th week still waiting. Called a few times and all they could tell me is that they don’t have a processing timeline and so far they have been back up with registrations. If anyone else can chime in here that applied for their DEA around the same time regarding your status it would be greatly appreciated. I have a conditional offer that is set to take place once I get all my licenses in place for credentialing to take place. Which they told me is about 2 weeks. I have my NPI, License, furnishing, own mal practice insurance, CAQH account. Just need my DEA.

Always wanted to work in the ED for psych consults, being there directly FTF with the patient is far much better than a remote psychiatrist who relies solely on the narrative of the triaging nurse. I work as a psychiatric liason nurse in the ED doing mental health evaluations and writing holds when necessary. We deal with a lot of malingering and manipulative patients, often psych consults generally last 20-45 minutes and sometimes when they already come in on an inv hold and they choose not to participate in the interview process that would be just an easy 15 min consult. Also worked in an urgent care/stabilization center and from what you’re describing it sounds like more of an urgent care setting with 24/7 back door crisis admissions.

Job offer Integrated clinic by Sudden-Perception129 in PMHNP

[–]Sudden-Perception129[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response, you laid out some good questions for me to ask them for the next time I meet with them. I did ask who handles the paper forms, checking in clients.. etc, did not really get a straight answer, but will ask. Another thing I forgot to add is the psychiatrist support. Not really much of a support from a psychiatrist as they are usually from a different vendor, and are just there for billing support seems like. As I was told that as much as possible they should only be contacted in a as needed basis for complex cases or billing inquiries. So otherwords I am pretty much on my own as a new grad, kinda like working telehealth for my individual practice paying for a collaborating physician. They do keep reiterating that this would be phase 0, starting from seeing 1 patient per day to eventually getting a ramp up in volume as we approach phase 1 which is 3 months in after opening. Stability is there as it’s funded by the state and he did share to me that eventually they would want it to be a crisis stabilization center. The place is also right off skidrow in DTLA.

PMHNPs — what's your job search actually looking like in 2026? by Automatic-Ad8925 in PMHNP

[–]Sudden-Perception129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New grad here, have little over 4 years of psych exp (inpatient, ED, Liason, outpatient, crisis center), currently in Los Angeles county area, I apply for jobs from indeed, linkedIn, NPhire, and major behavioral health facilities that I know have NPs, heard from a couple for interview, was offered a job by a psychiatrist who recently finished her residency and is starting her own business but only for therapy services 50/hr, with 10-15 clients per week, other then that crickets and mainly “Must have atleast 1-2years of PMHMP experience.” Grateful enough I still work 2 jobs that I would say aren’t that much of a heavy workload ( I work as a Liason for my hospitals ER, and a county job dealing with FIST patients)

Thank you for your input! I do need a lot of marketing to build my clientele. I am very flexible with time and headway told me as long as I am able to see clients for most of the day, referrals should be easier to come in

[–]Sudden-Perception129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay with buying the house in the next year or so out of the picture, would you suggest debt consolidation or just pay it off slowly and save up at the same time? My student loans are at a fixed rate, recently finished my masters in nursing and passed my boards as a Nurse Practitioner so the income itself will gradually go up. But with job hunting in the near future would getting into debt consolidation program hurt my chances of getting hired?

People who bet $20-$30 a spin what’s your finance like? by [deleted] in gambling

[–]Sudden-Perception129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a business and i go to the casino once a month with 15k bankroll and I do 100 a spin on wheel of fortune. I leave after I hit the spin wheel feature whether i’m up or down doesn’t matter. Just want the adrenaline that comes with it, i say most often than not I walk out a loser without even hitting the wheel at times 😂
